The Big Pineapple Festival Lineup Has Dropped 🍍

The Big Pineapple Festival is back! After a three year self imposed hiatus, the Sunshine Coast multi-award winning festival returns on Saturday, 19 October 2024, ready to deliver an unforgettable day of live music, delicious food and vibrant experiences. Presented by triple j and set against the picturesque backdrop of the Pineapple Fields in Woombye, this year’s festival promises to be the juiciest yet, featuring a mouth watering Australian lineup and plenty of other surprises in store.

Heading up the 2024 event are some of Australia’s most celebrated artists. Heavy metal giants The Amity Affliction will deliver a rare performance, showcasing their intense live show and chart topping hits. Returning for the first time in five years is global sensation Tones and I, who first graced the BPF festival stage in 2019 with it being her first ever festival performance. Known worldwide for her breakout hit “Dance Monkey” which has clocked over 3 billion streams on Spotify, Tones and I will bring her incredible energy back to the festival in spectacular fashion.

Iconic Australian hip-hop trio Bliss n Eso will bring their high energy performance and unique take on the genre this October. Also on the bill is Golden Features, the enigmatic electronic producer known for his haunting beats and high energy shows. Dynamic electro pop duo Peking Duk will once again light up the stage with their infectious anthems and electrifying performance…no stranger to the top spot at Big Piney. Rounding out the headliners is Vera Blue, whose ethereal voice and emotionally charged performances have made her a standout in the indie-pop scene.

Also joining: Thornhill, Dune Rats (DJ set), The Dreggs, Drax Project, SLUMBERJACK, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers, Ocean Grove, Kinder, South Summit, No Money Enterprise, Day We Ran, Betty Taylor, Toby Hobart, Hellcat Speedracer, Raw Ordio, Ishan, Larynx, Karlou, Rhino, Tess Fapani, Earth Sign and the triple j Unearthed Comp Winner.

Michael Healy, Minister for Tourism and Sport expressed his support: “It’s great to see the iconic and multi-award-winning Big Pineapple Festival return to Queensland’s events calendar in 2024. The Queensland Government is proud to support the festival as part of our commitment to a strong local events program, particularly at a time when the sector has been struggling. The festival also provides Queensland and Australian acts the opportunity to perform at the iconic Big Pineapple Fields on the Sunshine Coast, helping also to sustain artists and the local supply chains”.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli also shared her enthusiasm: “This is a spectacular event and drawcard for festival-goers to come to the Sunshine Coast”.

Festival goers can look forward to a host of exciting new experiences; the World Eats and Beats area offers a culinary and musical adventure with exotic foods and tunes from around the globe. As night falls, the Lantern Parade will enchant audiences with a magical display illuminating the festival grounds in a breathtaking spectacle.

For those who love to dress up, the annual Best Dressed at the Fest competition offers huge prizes for the craziest solo and team outfits. Skating enthusiasts will enjoy the BPF Skate Jam, where some of Australia’s best skaters will showcase their skills.

Burlesque L’amour will make their festival debut, offering a captivating and empowering dance performance with dazzling costumes and routines. The Great Australian Pineapple Toss competition is your chance to become an Australian Champion, with $500 cash for first prize, plus a trophy and other goodies. State MP Rob Skelton will officiate and a few familiar faces might compete for the crown.

Camping at the Pineapple Fields is a must on the Friday and Saturday nights for the full festival experience and will return in 2024. Bring your own, rent or glamp with lush bell tents, campfire hangs, a licensed bar and the Pineapple Party.

While playing the UK together last year, DUNE RATS and FIDLAR found themselves sitting backstage drinking warm ales, talking about releasing their new albums (more on that below), and how much they wanted to keep the party rolling! Thankfully for Aussie fans, those chats have become a reality!

“The FIDLAR / DUNIES relationship has honestly been a touring brotherhood that has seen us ping pong all over the world. It’s been the best part of a decade playing shows together that started when they first came to Australia doing venues half the size of the ones we are playing on this tour. Showing them the Aussie diet of beer and BBQ’s plus a bit of surfing and partying meant that when we wanted to tour the US, they bundled us into a van and spent 3 months seeing the States – from Gator Back scratchers in Florida to the bright lights of New York City. We went to the UK last year to play shows together and that’s where this tour came to fruition. Can’t wait to show them how crazy it is to play in Australia this time round, will definitely fit a few snags in too” – DUNE RATS

“The Dunies are like your favorite cousin that you only get to see every couple of years. You’ve known them forever, you like them more than some of your other cousins, you crack each other up, get into trouble, have a few heart to hearts even….when we get together…it’s like a psycho little family reunion!!! Truly kindred Ledge Lords!”FIDLAR

So, fire up Australia! Brace yourself for the ultimate transpacific matefest hitting our golden shores this August and September. DUNE RATS and FIDLAR are teaming up once again for a tour that promises to be nothing short of epic! This time around the venues will be bigger, the crowds will be wilder, and the vibes will no doubt be off the hook!

Tickets will be in hot demand, so fans are urged to register at dunerats.tv for pre-sale access. The fan pre-sale will commence at 9am local time on Thursday 20th June with general onsale 9am local time on Friday 21st June.

While you’re at it, pre-order a copy of Dunies upcoming 5th album ‘If It Sucks, Turn It Up’, the band’s most adventurous musical statement yet. It finds them evolving their sound and honing their melodic instincts across a diverse range of styles, all delivered with the energy and infectious humour that is unmistakably Dunies. The album features the singles ‘Be Like You’, ‘Solar Eyes’ and current tune – ‘Cheapskate’.

And you’d be mad not to pre-save the new FIDLARalbum ‘SURVIVING THE DREAM’ which will release on September 20th!
