‘Illusion’ follows the album’s Top 10 rock single ‘Judas Mind, which has quickly made an impact at radio where it’s currently #7 on both the Mediabase Active Rock chart and the Billboard Mainstream Rock Airplay chart, as it targets another chart-topper for Seether. “‘Illusion’ is one of the highlights for me on this album,” shares bassist Dale Stewart. “With its hypnotic opening riff chugging away like industrial machinery, the haunting melodies in the chorus and the all-out intensity of the bridge, I feel this song is a step forward for us whilst simultaneously being Seether through and through. I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do.”

Seether recently celebrated another impressive milestone in their decades-long career when Pandora awarded the band with a Billionaire Plaque, commemorating over 4 billion career streams on the platform. The band was surprised with the plaque at their Sirius XM Octane session in Nashville by Pandora’s Director of Music Programming Chris Patyk. Due out September 20th via Fantasy Records, The Surface Seems So Far is an unapologetically aggressive record that continues the band’s legacy as champions of raw emotion while showcasing their trademark blend of aggression and introspection. The 11-track collection, produced by frontman and songwriter Shaun Morgan with veteran producer Matt Hyde (Deftones, Slayer) as engineer and mixer, is an honest and exhilarating journey through themes of melancholy, self-reflection, and emotion, with catchy hooks and driving bombast emphasizing its many twists and turns. Adding to Seether’s impressive catalog, Morgan and his bandmates – Dale Stewart (bass), John Humphrey (drums), and Corey Lowery (guitar) – sound alternately confident and confessional, full of vitriol and vulnerability throughout The Surface Seems So Far, the follow-up to 2020’s Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum, which boasted three No. 1 hits. Seether will support the release of The Surface Seems So Far on the road this fall on an 18-date co-headlining tour with Skillet as well as festival appearances at Louder Than Life and Aftershock, bringing their authentic and electrifying live show across the U.S. See below for full list of upcoming tour dates. With five gold and platinum albums and two dozen Billboard Rock Airplay Top 10 hits including 20 No. 1s at U.S. radio (including their anthems “Broken,” “Fake It” and “Words as Weapons”) throughout a career spanning over two decades, Seether is as vibrant and relevant as ever. Hailing from South Africa, Shaun Morgan proudly draws inspiration from his grunge and hard rock roots, crafting a unique sonic identity that propelled the band’s Gold-certified American debut and continues to resonate deeply with fans worldwide. The rock quartet, who also founded the annual Rise Above Fest for nearly ten years to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental illness, remains a beacon of integrity on The Surface Seems So Far, which promises to captivate both loyal fans and newcomers alike with its blend of memorable hooks, driving rhythms, and unapologetic rock spirit.

TURMION KÄTILÖT’ Announce New Album RESET For October 25th + Release First Single ‘Yksi Jumalista’

Following the stand alone single ‘Schlachter’ featuring Chris Harms of LORD OF THE LOST, ‘Yksi Jumalista’ is the first single from TURMION KÄTILÖT’s new album Reset.

MC Raaka Pee comments about Reset: “I would say that Reset is like a bastard son or daughter of previous records – with tasty new spices added to the whole thing. It has everything you could ever want from us and more. One of the special twist of this album is the vocal parts: the fierce screams are counterbalanced by a huge melodiousness – often at the same time.”

He continues about ‘Yksi Jumalista‘: “Especially in difficult situations, I’ve learned to ask both myself and others, ‘What do you want?’ I’ve noticed that when arguments and conflicts arise, people often don’t really know what they truly want. In tense situations, that question is incredibly important to ask – otherwise, the main issue is likely to get lost in all the noise.”

About TURMION KÄTILÖT:
TURMION KÄTILÖT, the Finnish-singing industrial and electronic metal band hailing from the barren wastelands of Savo, is rapidly becoming a new favorite among open-minded metal fans in the mid-2020s. The odds of their rise to prominence are nothing short of great. Known for their ecstatic and theatrical concerts, TURMION KÄTILÖT invites you to dive into their twisted world of “disco metal.” The current lineup features singers MC Raaka Pee and Shag-U, guitarist Bobby Undertaker, bassist Master Bates, keyboardist RunQ, and drummer DQ. Since the early 2000s, this vivid sextet has been delivering a unique blend of electrifying heavy music, characterized by its peculiar, perverted, and catchy style. Their journey includes numerous sold-out concerts, gold and platinum records, and Emma nominations (Finland’s equivalent to the Grammys).

TURMION KÄTILÖT‘s depraved disco ball has also shone beyond Finland. Many fans remember their legendary European tour with PAIN in 2011. In the 2020s, their fame continued to grow, highlighted by their selection as the opening band for NIGHTWISH‘s sold-out European arena tour in 2022. Now, TURMION KÄTILÖT is ready to unveil their latest creation: Reset. Founding member and main songwriter MC Raaka Pee explains, “Reset is simply the perfect name for our new studio album. For us, Reset is more about taking advantage of everything we’ve learned over two decades and then adding new nuances to our metallic disco vortex.” With twenty years and ten studio albums behind them, Turmion Kätilöt continues to push their boundaries. “We have relentlessly raised our own bar with every record,” says the band. “Reset is our best album to date, and we simply couldn’t be more satisfied.”

Reset features all the hallmarks of TURMION KÄTILÖT: twisted synths, underfoot grooves, pounding beats, and cryptic lyrics, all with a stronger musical vision than ever before. The album is described as a “bastard child” of their previous records, with new spices added. The vocal parts, a mix of fierce screams and melodiousness, add a special twist.

We have gained more courage to explore drastic musical and lyrical angles,” the band states. “Sometimes the lyrics and the musical mood seem to come from completely different worlds, but that’s exactly what makes the whole thing fascinating. That’s what Turmion Kätilöt is all about!”

Key tracks from the album include singles “Yksi jumalista,” “Pulssi,” and “Sinä 2.0,” though the band emphasizes that the entire album is a varied entity. “If we had to decide now which new songs to perform at future shows, we would play the whole new album!

The production of Reset benefits from the powerful sound engineered by keyboardist and producer RunQ in his brand-new studio. The album’s sound palette ranges from completely organic to entirely electronic, creating a hugely powerful combination. Reset also offers an interesting opportunity to compare old and new TURMION KÄTILÖT with the song ‘Schlachter,’ a new German version of their classic ‘Teurastaja.’ Originally released on their debut album, this updated version features new arrangements and lyrics. While the band remains committed to singing in Finnish, they remain open to future possibilities. “In the future, we can sing in English, German, Swedish, or we may invent our own language. Let’s see.” MC Raaka Pee concludes with a confident smile, “Trust us, we know what we are doing. For this band, it took twenty years, but we finally know what we are doing. Now we are just going to enjoy the ride. So, if someone is interested in a wild ride on the twisted side, please reset and jump in!”

Mushroomhead – Reveals Dark Third Single “We Don’t Care”

MUSHROOMHEAD
Reveals Dark Third Single “We Don’t Care”

Ninth Studio Album, Call The Devil, out This Friday, August 9 via Napalm Records

The wait is almost over – American masked metal masters MUSHROOMHEAD will release their ninth studio album, Call The Devil, this Friday, August 9, 2024 via Napalm Records! In celebration of this week’s album release and their European tour kickoff, the band has revealed their ultra-dark third single, entitled “We Don’t Care”. The track proves to be a future live favorite with its chanting chorus and earworm hook!

30 years into their groundbreaking history, MUSHROOMHEAD shows no signs of slowing down, proving innovative without losing sight of their trademark sound and imagery.

Listen to “We Don’t Care”

https://youtu.be/WeQ6gQF366o

Returning after a 12 year hiatus, longtime guitarist Dave “Gravy” Felton – who performed on several of the band’s biggest albums and is credited as a primary songwriter on classic anthems like “Along The Way”, “Sun Doesn’t Rise” and “The Dream Is Over” – contributes his trademark skills to two Call The Devil album tracks. The album once again features production by band mastermind/drummer Steve “Skinny” Felton, as well as the return of Matt Wallace (Faith No More, 3 Doors Down) on mixing, also recognized for his work on MUSHROOMHEAD’s iconic album XIII. The album is also the band’s first to feature mastering from Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica, Arch Enemy).

Bursting with ominous intensity, album opener “Eye To Eye” launches with warning sirens and a grooving riff provided by Gravy, proving the band wastes zero time with filler on Call The Devil. Eclectic tracks like the emotive, surprisingly jazzy anthem “Emptiness”, dramatic carnival creeper “UIOP (A Final Reprieve)” and haunting “Hallelucination” showcase the more experimental side of MUSHROOMHEAD, while heavy burners such as the gripping “Prepackaged”, charging and melodic “Hideous” and aggressive drum-forward “Torn In Two” cement the band’s lauded metal renown. Featuring guitar work and writing from Gravy, the winding, dark “We Don’t Care” proves to be a future live favorite with its chanting chorus and earworm hook as vocalists Steve Rauckhorst and Jackie LaPonza split leadership duties. Call The Devil brings the cinematic, signature style of musical mastermind and bassist/keyboardist Ryan “Dr. F” Farrell to the forefront, exploring piano-driven balladic auras and compelling with eerily Vaudevillian three-part vocal achievements on songs like “Decomposition”, “Grand Gesture” and “Shame In A Basket”, eventually veering into welcomed bizarre territory with album closer “Doom Goose”.

Anticipation continues as California masters of brutal aggression NAILS reveal the latest single, ‘Lacking The Ability To Process Empathy’, from the band’s long-awaited, 4th full-length album, Every Bridge Burning, due out August 30th from Nuclear Blast Records.

Following the catastrophic tracks Give Me The Painkiller and Imposing Will’, NAILS unleashes a 2+ minute, groove-laden song that seethes with contempt and disdain.

Every Bridge Burning was produced by Kurt Ballou at God City Studio and is adorned with aptly diabolic artwork by Jef Whitehead. Their first record in 8 years features 10 tracks of unyielding, violence that can only be described as the sound of NAILS.

ABOUT NAILS:

For the first time in over 8 years, the blistering assault on our nervous system that can only be described as the sound of NAILS, has reemerged. With Carlos Cruz on drums, Andrew Solis on Bass, Shelby Lermo on Guitars, and Todd Jones on guitar & vocals, the upcoming studio album, EVERY BRIDGE BURNING, will be revealed August 30th, 2024 via Nuclear Blast Records.

The album artwork, a creation by Jef Whitehead, serves as a visual prelude to the auditory chaos—a stark representation of the aural brutality that NAILS delivers.

Recording for the album commenced in Massachusetts at God City Studio with Kurt Ballou (of CONVERGE), whose contribution is integral to the NAILS sound, as elucidated by Jones: “we’ve recorded every album with Kurt. He’s such an important ingredient as to how we present our music. When our fans want to hear NAILS, they want to hear something that is through the filter of Kurt’s engineering.

EVERY BRIDGE BURNINGwas born out of unwavering dedication to NAILS fans and the underground music scene. It echoes their commitment to authenticity and raw power. NAILS remains a beacon of rebellion and resilience in a world hungry for genuine expression. With no shortage of effort or meticulous song arrangement, the time has arrived to become engulfed in the ferocity of NAILS once again as EVERY BRIDGE BURNING unveils a new, but familiar chapter in extreme music.

This band was modelled after some of my favourite bands; the type of bands where, when they put out an album, you know what it’s going to sound like,” describes Jones, “it’s the delivery of the expectation.” The sensory destroying musical onslaught that we’ve all been missing is back. NAILS is Todd Jones, Carlos Cruz, Andrew Solis, and Shelby Lermo.

ABOUT SOMEWHERE FAR BEYOND REVISITED

Right on time with their show at 2024’s edition of Wacken Open Air, BLIND GUARDIAN release of Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited, which includes a complete re-recording of this classic as well as a live celebration of 1992’s Somewhere Far Beyond, a landmark record for Germany’s heavy metal titans. After three albums on No Remorse Records, it was the band’s major label debut via Virgin Records and opened threm doors to the Japanese market resulting in a wider availability and presence on the global metal scene. After finding the right balance of speed, heaviness, melodies, drama and irresistible choruses on 1990’s Tales From The Twilight World, Somewhere Far Beyond honed this approach to perfection, evolving further on a conceptual level and increasing BLIND GUARDIAN’s sonic range. On Somewhere Far Beyond the band experimented with keyboards, orchestrations, and folk elements, the latter manifesting in the group’s best-known song and live staple, ‘The Bard’s Song (In The Forest)’, whereas other tracks like ‘Ashes to Ashes’, the rapid ‘Journey Through The Dark’ or ‘The Quest For Tanelorn’ connected well with previous mostly fast-paced albums yet offered an additional push in dynamics.

Fast forward 30 years! Prior to releasing the much lauded opus The God Machine in September 2022, BLIND GUARDIAN had been performing Somewhere Far Beyond in its entirety at Rock Hard Festival and Hellfest in Summer 2022 in front of tens of thousands of fans singing along to each track. Both shows were filmed and recorded professionally and aired via WDR and ARTE. For the limited triple-disc-edition of Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited the Hellfest material was newly edited by the band’s long-time videographer Dirk Behlau using additional multi-cam footage. The idea of re-recording the album originated from the rehearsals for these shows as Hansi Kürsch explains in the detailed liner notes: “The original idea wasn’t to do a re-recording. When rehearsing for the anniversary gigs, corona hit and we couldn’t be certain that those shows would take place. We still wanted to celebrate the anniversary of the album and if we wouldn’t be able to include a live version, we initially thought we could at least record the rehearsals.” Not 100% satisfied with those rough versions, BLIND GUARDIAN decided to go all in, knowing the risk of being frowned upon by fans who consider re-recordings utter blasphemy. “We tried to recapture what we did in 1992 but compensate youth with skilful experience, though in a hungry way. We never discussed any major changes but with over 30 years of experience, and our current line-up, those ingredients already add a new flavour to it.

With the basic tracks recorded in a live setting, Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited is leaner and more focused on impact in terms of guitar arrangements yet retains all the harmonies and melodies essential to the original. “We finally ended up with this cool hybrid version”, André adds. “We combined how we play the songs today, but at the same time, really tried to retain that speed metal spirit of the early 90s!

OPETH Announces New Album, THE LAST WILL & TESTAMENT Shares First Single ‘§1’

The Last Will & Testament is due on October 11, 2024

via Reigning Phoenix Music

Listen “§1” HERE

Pre-Order THE LAST WILL & TESTAMENT: HERE

Swedish prog legends OPETH are now pleased to reveal that their 14th studio album, ‘The Last Will & Testament’, is set for release on October 11, 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music! In celebration, the band is now sharing the first single from the offering, “§1” available on all DSPs Here. Prior to today’s worldwide announcement, the album was teased yesterday, exclusively for attendees at Wacken Open Air 2024 in conjunction with the band’s performance at the illustrious festival.

Opeth vocalist/guitarist Mikael Åkerfeldt admits: “I love this record. I have to say it (write it). Maybe I’m proud even? There are some familiar ingredients in there I suppose. Most of our music has sprung from the same source, so I guess it’s not much of a shocker if it’s going to sound like ‘us’. I’m a bit in awe of what we did with “The Last Will and Testament”. It feels like a dream. There is some ‘coherence’ and ‘songwriting skills’ I hope, but what do I know? I tend to favour the ‘strange’ over the ‘obvious,’ but I feel like I’m in the minority, and that’s fine. So…fair warning! Don’t expect an instant rush (as per usual), but if you do “get it” (have you got it yet?) right away, that’s ok too!”

‘The Last Will & Testament’ is a concept album set in the post-World War I era, unfolding the story of a wealthy, conservative patriarch whose last will and testament reveals shocking family secrets. The narrative weaves through the patriarch’s confessions, the reactions of his twin children, and the mysterious presence of a polio-ridden girl who the family have taken care of. The album begins with the reading of the father’s will in his mansion. Among those in attendance is a young girl, who, despite being an orphan and polio-ridden, has been raised by the family. Her presence at the will reading raises suspicions and questions among the twins.

Regarding the record’s creation, Åkerfeldt adds: “This is the first record with Walt on drums. Seeing and hearing him record his bits was otherworldly and what went through my head was something like: How can a human being play this stuff? The older cats (myself, Mendez, Fred and Jocke) did our bits in due time. We did them well (I like to think) and the alcohol concentration in our blood was mostly quite low as the red light was on. We’re professionals, you see! Rockfield Studios treated us well and we love that place! Stefan Boman recorded and mixed it all (CAPTURED it on TAPE… kind of…). Miles Showell did the master at Abbey Road Studios and then we (myself and Stefan) took him for a curry in Covent Garden. Travis Smith has done this odd-masterpiece-artwork that put ‘clothes’ on the music. All in all, we hope we’ve put together a nice little morsel of information for you to nibble on when it’s raining out. Thank you for your time. Thank you for reading. Thank you for listening. Thank you for giving us a respectable past. I’ll thank you for our future in the actual future, OK?”

Pre-Order ‘The Last Will & Testament’: HERE

Opeth’s fourteenth album was written by Åkerfeldt, with lyrics conferred with Klara Rönnqvist Fors (The Heard, ex-Crucified Barbara). ‘The Last Will & Testament’ was co-produced by Åkerfeldt and Stefan Boman (Ghost, The Hellacopters), engineered by Boman, Joe Jones (Killing Joke, Robert Plant), and Opeth, with Boman, Åkerfeldt, and the rest of Opeth mixing at Atlantis and Hammerthorpe Studios in Stockholm. The strings on ‘The Last Will & Testament’ were arranged by Åkerfeldt and returning prog friend Dave Stewart (Egg, Khan) and conducted by Stewart at Angel Studios in London. Not one to miss a beat, visual artist Travis Smith returns to the fold, crafting his 11th cover, a haunting “photograph” reminiscent of Stanley Kubrick’s infamous “Overlook Hotel” photograph. Miles Showell (ABBA, Queen) also revisits mastering and vinyl lacquer cutting at Abbey Road Studios in London.

Åkerfeldt rolls out the red carpet for storied flautist and Jethro Tull main man Ian Anderson. Not only do Anderson’s signature notes fly on “§4” and “§7”, he narrates on “§1”, “§2”, “§4”, and “§7”. Joining Anderson, Europe’s Joey Tempest lends a backing vocal hand on “§2”, while Åkerfeldt’s youngest daughter, Mirjam Åkerfeldt, is the disembodied voice in “§1”.

‘The Last Will & Testament ‘is gripping from start to finish, jaw-dropping inside and out, representing some of Opeth’s finest material to date. Just as Opeth welcomed many into its distressed arms over the years, the Swedes again deliver on the promise that great music always tells a compelling story—this time with growls.
