The band has just shared the video for the new single What You Want. It’s a fans first anthem, once that captures the band’s soaring, emotional, and supremely catchy sonic style. Capstan indulge in a little ’80s energy with this track, as it has a glorious throwback vibe, all the while maintaining a modern edge.

Perhaps an unexpected tune from Capstan, ‘What You Want’ pokes fun at coming to terms with some surprising and difficult truths about the music industry,” the bad muses. “Still, ever earnest, this song is a commitment to what Capstan is and always will be, and a pledge to our most loyal fans.

To make a mosaic, tiny pieces interlock as a larger picture. In similar fashion, distinct elements coalesce as one in Capstan. The band mixes metallic precision with pit-splitting hardcore grooves and the kind of hooks you can’t shake. Since 2015, Capstan have progressed with each subsequent move. Following Seasonal Depression [2015] and In The Wake of Our Discord [2018], they made waves with their full-length debut, Restless Heart, Keep Running, in 2019. They toured with the likes of Trash Boat, Doll Skin, Silverstein, and many more. After amassing tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from the likes of KERRANG! and New Noise, the group paint a definitive body of work on their aptly titled third full-length offering, The Mosaic.

The world’s most prominent bass driven instrumental rock act, Australia’s The Omnific, have unleashed their latest single and music video, the thematic hip-hop-pop infused ‘Matrices’, off their new sophomore album, ‘The Law Of Augmenting Returns’; an audacious and magnificent triumph – to be released on June 7, 2024 via Wild Thing Records.

To the contrary, ‘Matrices’ is simplistic in its ideas than the usual thoroughfare of The Omnific, with the majority of the song based off one theme. Influenced by pop and hip hop, the track has many singalong sections, while still incorporating the complexity and technicality that The Omnific are renowned for. The Omnific’s art guru Josh Saunders lends his guitar abilities to the track, but using a Bass VI, sticking true to the fact that The Omnific’s musical realm is yet to feature a guitar. 

Toby Peterson-Stewart (Bass) comments:

‘Matrices’ weaves modern cascades of thumping and slap, while embracing a futuristic soundscape. This is one of the harder songs to play for all of us respectively, it’s a great example of a song that makes us all better musicians from playing it. Also, many Djent.

The band linked up with long time associate Miki Simankevicius (Director Of Photography – Polaris, They Art Is Murder) to direct the stunning music video. The band’s original wild concept consisted of the group being an MP3 file on a USB stick, with Simankevicius taking things one step further – “We took the whole concept literally by leveraging new Unreal Engine 5 technology. This allowed us to physically have the band performing on a circuit board, and resulted in a completely unique and fun viewing experience.”

The Omnific will be trailblazing their way through Europe & the UK, heading on their first ever summer festival run, alongside their most extensive array of headline shows in Europe to date. They’ll be making highly anticipated debut appearances at festivals; Radar (UK), Vagos (PT), Brutal Assault (CZ), Arctangent (UK), and Fekete Zaj (HU). Led by their two other-worldly intertwining bassists, Matt Fack & Toby Peterson-Stewart, and backed by flamboyant drummer Jerome Lematua, The Bass Boys will be bringing a full tank of charisma, showmanship, and unbelievable technical performances from down under.

Today JET have revealed the news that fans have long been waiting for – they have commenced work on a new album, set for release in 2025, their first studio album in more than15 years.

Ahead of this long player comes an exclusive 7” single to whet the appetite – titled Hurry Hurry (Australian Tour Edition). It’s a song that has met with a great response from audiences across the country, the band unveiling it at recent live shows.

The B-side of the single is a song called Un’avventura, a cover of a cover: Wilson Pickett’s version of Un’avventura performed by Lucio Battisti at the 1969 Sanremo Music Festival. It’s sung in half Italian/half English and is a nod to front man Nic Cester’s time spent living in Italy over the last 15 years.

JET said, “It’s time… we’re pretty excited to tell you that we’re working on a new JET album, due for release in 2025. As a little taste of what’s to come, we’re putting out a limited edition 7” vinyl single for our fans, the song is called “Hurry Hurry”.

“These 7” vinyls are super limited and will be available at our upcoming Australian shows, if you can’t make a show, there will be a small number of coloured vinyl available via www.jetofficial.com from May 9.”

Both Hurry Hurry and Un’avventura will be available via streaming services in the near future but in the meantime, JET fans should join the mailing list at jetoffical.com to receive a free digital download of Hurry Hurry at midnight on Wednesday, May 8. This new single will also be available at each of their May/June shows, and can be picked up as limited edition coloured7” vinyl through Impressed Recordings – available to purchase until sold out, via the band’s website from May 9 – head to www.jetofficial.com.

Can’t Swim Share New Single

New Jersey rock band Can’t Swim have released new single No Backbone.

“One of my favourite songwriters ever said “a good tune should take 30 minutes to write” and No Backbone certainly falls into that category. Once we finished it we went back a few times to see if we should add a part or bring more instrumentation/layers to the mix but whatever we did seemed to take away from the song rather than add to it. As time goes on I think as a band we are more and more drawn to do what excites us creatively in that moment and to do things we haven’t done before. I’m not saying this song is reinventing the wheel by any means but having a tune that feels raw and stripped down with incredibly literal lyrics (haha) is something that feels new and fresh for us to put out. All Killer No Filler as Elton John once said”

Void Of Vision Share Ferocious New Single ‘Empty’ & Touring Nationally This September Supporting Parkway Drive

Raw, ferocious and oozing with caustic dexterity, come and witness the high octane new single Empty from metalcore mavericks Void Of Vision, officially out today via UNFD.

Following the quartet’s transmutation via the razor-sharp 2023 single Angel Of Darkness, Empty is a sweltering blend of pummeling beats and oscillating melodics, complete with jagged riffs, voracious vocals and a fiery breakdown that all combine to unite the recent journey behind the scenes in particular for frontman Jack Bergin.

“Empty was written halfway through our Australian tour in October last year,” shares Bergin. “We’d just completed our first run of shows back since I had surgery following a brain AVM rupture in April, which left me facing mixed emotions I didn’t expect. On one hand, we were playing our largest ever headline shows to date and selling them all out, and on the other I was facing the fear of getting up on stage every night risking another potential rupture every set I played.”

“Performing under the ‘Angel Of Darkness’ persona for the single campaign, I’d get up on stage and play it down from the usual high energy show we’re known for, leaving every second of gratitude or appreciation to be communicated by a backing track in between songs to communicate with the audience,” Bergin continues. “A protective measure sure, yet I felt vapid and far from the engaging stage persona that had led us to playing these bigger stages in the first place. We were at the peak of our career and I felt nothing but imposter syndrome up where I usually feel most at home.”

“Everything quickly snowballed into more bottled up emotions surfacing, all of a sudden finding myself coming to terms with unprecedented body dysmorphia after my hospital stay. I had never even processed losing all my hair from alopecia until I had to return to societal norms after hiding away for months straight off the back of touring. I’d just been diving into a world of fashion and makeup trying to cover everything up just to hide my face and body in a world where I couldn’t avoid comments and remarks, no matter how I presented myself.”

“Following the Sydney date of tour we found ourselves in the studio on an off day, laying down the foundations of what would by the end of the day, become Empty,” Bergin concludes. “I took the first words off the top of my dome, and screamed that chorus at the top of my lungs, leaving the take from that very demo the exact same as the intro in the final track you hear today. It feels suiting to return now with a song all about perception, not only by the public but also one self.. and it feels like true growth now feeling entirely realized and ready for whatever is to come.”

Melbourne’s Void Of Vision have solidified their standing as one of the most innovative and sonically explosive acts in the modern heavy scene for over a decade. The song touches on the concept of thinking you’re in control when you’re actually not at all. An outside perspective is important when you don’t have it. Coinciding with their 25th anniversary, Japanese instrumental rock band MONO will release their 12th album ‘OATH’ on June 14, 2024 via Pelagic Records.

More than an eponymous track, ‘Oath’ serves as the album’s theme. Anyone who is a fan of MONO’s unique songwriting and sound construction is bound to have stars in their eyes with this one. The classical instruments greet the listener with comfort and lightness, while the quartet quietly take their time to join in… until they reach a pinnacle of post-rock splendour, spiced up with a hint of shoegaze as only the band can do!

Guitarist and composer of the band, Takaakira ‘Taka’ Goto, states –
“The album ‘OATH’ is about “time and life”. We wanted to express the “limited time in life” and the “meaning of life”. Our time goes by day by day. What is my goal? What is my purpose? What is the reason I live every day? What can we do? What should we do? We wanted to learn what we were feeling about time and life, what we have lost and found, and the questions and the answers we discovered during both our good and difficult times. We live with a vow that hasn’t changed since we were children.“

The cooler months may be imminent, but things are only heating up for Melbourne band RUN, returning today with a brand new single Summer featuring Trophy Eyes frontman John Floreani.
An emphatic addition to the ever-growing RUN sonic universe, Summer layers cascading drumwork, emotive melodics and searing vocals, with frontman Lochlan Watt trading vehement moments with Floreani.
Also accompanied today by a music video directed by Patrick Kearney, Summer is yet another heart-rending gut punch from the Melbourne five-piece.

It was an honour to have my mate John Floreani clean up the chorus on this song, Most of us have become huge fans of Trophy Eyes in recent years, so once we were actually able to pin him down for recording, the collaborative vibes were unreal.

While RUN’s previous studio collaboration, the 2023 single Everyone’s Cancelled, Everything’s Cancer, introduced a full lineup while spitting out the resentment from prior years to create a fresh slate, the track also saw the band go on to tour around the country with Deafheaven, Hexis, and Earth Caller.

Now completed by fellow veteran musicians guitarists Lewis Noke-Edwards and Arron Parker Richards, drummer Adrian Horsman and bassist/vocalist Benn Gaylor, RUN continues to unveil a new bundle of self-produced, bittersweet crushers that shine bright thanks to the glorious mix of Forrester Savell (Karnivool).

“We have a six track EP coming very soon,” Watt concludes. “It features an intro/title track, four seasonal anthems, and a grand finale. I think it blows the band’s previous material out of the water.”

RUN will return to the stage this May supporting the eclectic and emotionally charged British post-hardcore/metal band Svalbard on their debut Australian tour, with performances lined up in Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
