THE BLACK CROWES Add Melbourne Date, Sydney Show to SHAKE YOUR MONEY MAKER Australian Tour

THE BLACK CROWES have today announced two new headline shows on their 2022 Shake Your Money Maker Australian tour.  With the first Sydney show now totally sold out, they have added a further Enmore Theatre date for Monday, November 14, and a Melbourne date, Sunday, November 20 at Palace Foreshore.

Tickets for the new Sydney and Melbourne shows go on sale at 1:00pm tomorrow, July 27, with tickets for Brisbane on sale now. For complete tour information, visit: livenation.com.au or blackcrowes.com

The Black Crowes return to Australia to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1990 breakthrough album Shake Your Money Maker, playing the album in its entirety along with other classics from across their vast catalogue.

In 1990, when journalists were lamenting the death of rock, as cheesy pop and hair metal dominated the charts, Atlanta’s Black Crowes gave the genre a swift and much needed kick in the ass with Shake Your Money Maker. Fueled by singles “Jealous Again,” “Twice As Hard,” “She Talks To Angels,” and the break-through cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard To Handle,” the band immediately took the rock world by storm, topping Rolling Stone’s “Best New American Band Readers Poll” in late 1990.

The Black Crowes went on to release eight studio and four live albums, selling in the tens of millions along the way; they sold out shows around the world; had legendary guitarist Jimmy Page join as a member; got kicked off a tour with ZZ Top for insulting the sponsor; got screwed by bad record deals; got married and divorced, fought amongst themselves and against the rest of the world. In other words, they’ve done everything a legendary rock group should do. Don’t miss The Black Crowes November 2022 headline shows!

PENNYWISE Announce Australian Tour

Hermosa Beach punk rock band Pennywise have announced they will be returning down under for an Australian tour in September 2022. Pennywise will be bringing with them the legendary punk band Circle Jerks, who will be hitting Australia for the very first time. Tour details are below.

Pennywise will be performing songs from their entire catalogue including the recently CERTIFIED ARIA GOLD selling album Straight Ahead, which debuted at No. 8 on the ARIA charts (the band’s highest charting album to date).

Fletcher Dragge enthuses;
“Finally Pennywise gets to come back to our home away from home, Australia!

Where the beer flows nonstop, along with the chaos. Never a dull moment on a Pennywise tour down under… only one thing could make it better than usual, and that would be coming to town with our mentors and long-time friends THE CIRCLE JERKS!!! They are back with a vengeance!

This is gonna be an off the fucking hook nonstop party! And we can’t wait! Get your tix, get on the booze, and get in the pit, we’re coming for you fuckers!!!!!”

Pennywise are no strangers to Australia having toured the country many times over. Most recently in 2019 on the 20th Anniversary Straight Ahead tour with sold-out shows Australia-wide.

Formed in the South Bay of Los Angeles—a neighborhood with a rich punk-rock history—Pennywise began in 1988. The band went on to amass an international following with their relentless touring and a melodic, high-energy sound fusing classic punk, surf punk, and blistering hardcore. Through the years, Pennywise have solidified their place in punk history with iconic songs like “Fuck Authority,” “Alien,” and “Bro Hymn” (their timeless ode to brotherhood and departed friends).

Pennywise has released 11 albums over the last three decades, including Pennywise (1991), Unknown Road (1993), About Time (1995), Full Circle (1997), Straight Ahead(1999), Land of the Free? (2001), From the Ashes (2003), The Fuse (2005), Reason to Believe (2008), All or Nothing (2012), and Yesterdays (2014). Resolutely working outside the margins of the mainstream, the band has emerged as an enduringly vibrant staple on the worldwide touring circuit.

PIXIES Return To Australia For Their COME ON PILGRIM… IT’S SURFER ROSA Australian & NZ Tour 2022

PIXIES, one of the most influential alternative rock bands of all time, have unfinished business in Australia and New Zealand and will be returning in 2022 for their mammoth – Come On Pilgrim… It’s Surfer Rosa tour. Pixies’ debut releases – the electrifying 1987 EP Come On Pilgrim and 1988’s debut full-length album, Surfer Rosa – brought rise to a new genre and defined contemporary music for a generation.

The tour will bear witness to both seminal albums being performed in full – plus new and old tracks spanning their extensive catalogue. Surfer Rosa is a record made up of rage, religion, gore, incest, and superheroes named Tony – a debut album so good that it’s since been seen as a masterpiece. Produced by Steve Albini, it includes early Pixies classics such as “Bone Machine,” “Gigantic,” “Vamos” and “Where Is My Mind?”. Come On Pilgrim contained eight songs from the band’s first-ever studio session, produced by Gary Smith and recorded at his Fort Apache Studio near Boston.

Almost two years to the day, Pixies were forced to leave Australia when the global pandemic took hold. With only one show in Auckland and one in Melbourne completed, the band was determined to get the show back on the road and will return to Australian and New Zealand shores this December.

On announcing the new shows the band said: “We are thrilled to be able to announce our return to Australia and New Zealand in December 2022, following the untimely postponement of some of these shows back in 2020. We will be returning to play two different sets across the tour:

1. Performing Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa in their entirety – in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Wellington, and Christchurch.

2. A brand new set featuring songs from across our catalogue, including some oldies and some brand new tracks – in Melbourne and Auckland. La la love you!”

The tour will start in Brisbane at the Fortitude Music Hall on 2nd December followed by a not-to-be-missed momentous show under the stars at Sydney Opera House Forecourt on 3rd December. Melbourne gets a second treat with a different set to the one they performed in 2020 at the Forum on 7th December before heading to Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre on 8th December and Fremantle at the Arts Centre on 10th December. Pixies will then head over the ditch for shows at Wellington Opera House on 14th December, Auckland Town Hall on 16th December, and Christchurch Town Hall on 17 December.

Tickets for all shows go on sale at 2 pm local time Tuesday 5 April. My Live Nation members can be among the first to secure tickets during the pre-sale beginning at 1 pm local time Friday 1 April, register here.

Forming in Boston, Massachusetts in 1986, Pixies are often acclaimed as the most influential, pioneering alternative band of the late 80s, garnering extraordinary critical and popular acclaim. After five genre-defining studio albums, Pixies disbanded in 1993. The tide turned in 2004 – the band reunited and began touring, playing to sell-out crowds around the world including their first-ever Australian performances in 2007, later to be followed by a 13-show sold-out Doolittle tour in 2010 and again in 2017. Those 2004 shows, across four nights at London’s iconic Brixton Academy have just been released as a special ‘Live in Brixton’ box set. The eight discs of heavyweight 180-gram vinyl feature all of the big hitters and fan favorites from the landmark albums ‘Doolittle’ and ‘Surfer Rosa’; key songs and obscurities from the rest of their catalogue as well as some eclectic covers.

Following their acclaimed 2019 album ‘Beneath the Eyrie’ and archival live recording releases, Pixies have just released a new single titled ‘Human Crime’. Written by Pixies founder and frontman Black Francis, the video was directed by the band’s bass player Paz Lenchantin.
