For One Night Only….WELCOME TO OUR FIRST KiSS. The Ultimate Emo Throwback Party.

Eyeliner and skinny jeans at the ready – for one night only get set for the ultimate emo throwback party with Our First Kiss ready to celebrate all the feels on Saturday 7 May in Melbourne.

Bringing together a stacked line-up of Aussie Alternative icons, Our First Kiss will be busting out all of your sad boi and emo faves, with self-confessed emo gals The Veronicas leading the pack for this truly epic evening.

Also jumping on board to amp up the nostalgic party vibes will be Short Stack, The Getaway Plan, Dream On, Dreamer, and Closure In Moscow.

With over 500 million streams, ARIA awards, and over 3.5 million social connections, Brisbane duo The Veronicas are truly a force to be reckoned with. Professionally skyrocketing at the peak of the 2000s emo boom, add in an MTV series plus plenty of ongoing critical acclaim, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for some authentic emo fare, Veronicas-style.

From meeting in high school to traversing over a decade together as a band, punk rock legends Short Stack are a true staple in the Aussie music scene. Following a six-year hiatus, the group is now poised to release their most exciting endeavor yet, with an impending new pop punk-laced album Maybe There’s No Heaven complete with crunchy and instantly memorable bangers.

Alt-rockers The Getaway Plan exploded onto the Australian punk rock scene fresh out of high school, snagging whirlwind success in a swelteringly short space of time. While 2009 saw the group hit pause at the top of their game, TGP reformed to release two additional critically acclaimed albums, and recently toured alongside the likes of Alexisonfire and Pierce The Veil.

Forming back in 2009, Melbourne’s Dream On, Dreamer has traversed the many highs and lows, embracing line-up changes, health scares, and beyond to embolden their heavy wares. Recently releasing their album What if I told you it doesn’t get better back in 2020, 2022 brings a welcomed return for the group following their announcement pre-pandemic that the group would be parting ways.

With a mission statement to “chew bubblegum and kick ass”, kaleidoscopic rockers Closure In Moscow morph experimental prog-rock into criminally catchy sonic cocoons. Like King Crimson and The Mars Volta shaken together in a giant cocktail maker, Closure In Moscow has amassed a cult-like following over the years and continues to build towards a hotly-anticipated third album.

Pumping up the festivities alongside this brilliant line-up, Our First Kiss will also feature food trucks, market stalls, and themed bars to help you live your best emo life in style, alongside some pumping party DJs from NEXT and BANG! to keep the party rocking.

It’s not a phase, mum – PICA (Port Melbourne Industrial Centre For The Arts) is about to play host to one of the biggest emo parties of the millennium.

MONOLITH FESTIVAL will forge ahead in August/September 2022.

Today, Destroy All Lines is announcing that the festival’s dates have had to be re-scheduled.

Destroy All Lines issued this statement: “The move of the festival dates is due to Western Australian borders and capacity limits in certain cities. Whilst a lot of these limits and rules have now become more relaxed, factors such as council approvals for festival sites, production, vendors and more, have to be booked well in advance during a very uncertain period, meaning that in order to be certain these events went ahead, the dates had to be pushed back. This means a new venue in Melbourne, but we are very excited about running the show at Port Melbourne Industrial Centre for the Arts (PICA), and we are also super stoked that all artists have been confirmed for the new dates. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are very excited and proud to be able to be bringing this almost once-in-a-lifetime festival line-up to Australian audiences in 2022!

The festival line-up remains the same, but now will take place in August 2022 – Saturday 13 August at Eaton’s Hill Outdoors in Brisbane, Saturday 20 August at Bella Vista Farm in Sydney, Saturday 27 August at PICA (Port Melbourne Industrial Centre for the Arts), Melbourne and Saturday 17th September at Red Hill Auditorium, Perth. All dates are outdoor venues and all Existing Tickets remain valid, no action required. General tickets are on sale now at destroyalllines.com.

There are no prizes for guessing why there was palpable excitement about Monolith Festival when it was announced in late 2021. It will be the very first time in SEVENTEEN YEARS that Aussie Rock legends Karnivool and COG will tour together on the same line-up!

Heading up the line-up is Karnivool – with their acclaimed debut, Themata, the groundbreaking follow-up, Sound Awake, and the Aria winning #1 album Asymmetry, Karnivool has established themselves as one of the most vital global forces in progressive modern music. Karnivool has gained high praise from international press titans such as Rolling Stone, Billboard Magazine, Kerrang! and Rocksound. A rare sight to see them on a festival line-up, it’s even more special when it has them reuniting for the first time in 17 years with long-time musical brothers, COG!

Since their return in 2016 after their critically acclaimed albums The New Normal and Sharing Space and subsequent 5-year hiatus, COG has been immersing themselves in their craft with renewed vigor, already having a plethora of new ideas and structures from which to draw new material. Since they released 'The Middle' in 2018 – the first new material released by COG in ten years and 'Altered States' and 'Drawn Together' followed, each song providing further proof that although Cog had lost NONE of their firepower.

Rounding out the seven-band line-up is the enigmatic/eccentric Ocean Grove, the guitar mastery and groove-laden riffs of Plini, the post-rock power and majesty of sleepmakeswaves, the outright force of nature that is Reliqa, and the up-and-coming instrumentalists Yomi Ship opening up proceedings.

MONOLITH FESTIVAL tickets are on sale now at destroyalllines.com. All current ticket holders' tickets remain valid, no action is required.

Pennsylvania goth-metal outfit Motionless In White are set to play all dates of the tour as its main support, playing material from 2019’s ‘Disguise’ – their fifth studio album, and major-label debut – for the first time on Australian stages.

Rounding out the lineup will be Melbourne-via-Wagga Wagga metalcore band Windwaker, who announced their as-yet-undated debut album, ‘Love Language’, last December.

I Prevail released their second studio album, ‘Trauma’, in March of 2019 via Fearless. They launched it at that year’s edition of the Download Festival in Australia, later picking up two Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Album.

[Review] Tony Hadley @ Forum Theatre, Melbourne 26/02/2020

Music venues do not come any better than The Forum Melbourne, it is steeped with nostalgia and sets quite a fairy-tale feel as you descend towards the stage. I love coming to shows here and hearing the comments from the performers I think they love it too. Tonight it is New Romantic royalty Tony Hadley, of course, we all know him as the former frontman for world-famous Spandau Ballet but this evening he is here flying solo. Giving us a front-row seat to his new album Talking To The Moon and his back catalogue of hits while with Spandau Ballet.

I hit the age demographic square on the jaw and was pleased to be amongst like-minded souls ready for a night of eighties infused tunes and a trip down memory lane. While I think many had their feet firmly stuck in the eighties it made for some very interesting people watching, but when I caught sight of a dynamic duo rocking a double man bag I was quickly brought back to 2020.

Gold Coast youngster Chloe Styler opened the night’s proceedings, she has been on tour with Tony across Australia and was very gracious for the opportunity. Dressed in the prettiest of pink dresses she was accompanied by another guitarist/backing vocalist and they got straight to business. Giving us a 45 minute set of lovely tunes. Chloe’s voice was quite unique and had a memorable tone that everyone enjoyed. Her guitar playing was well suited to her sound and it came as no surprise when she said she had been brought up on music at home from a young age. Her cover of Landslide was a lovely addition to her set and she certainly warmed up the crowd ready for the main attraction.

Kicking the night off with one of my favourite Spandau Ballet song, To Cut A Story Short, who can forget the tartan infused film clip from 1980, thankfully there was not a kilt in sight tonight, just a dapper Tony Hadley sporting a suit and looking a million dollars. Highly Strung then Killer Blow from the new album was up next If you are yet to give Talking To The Moon a spin, what are you waiting for?! It is a brilliant album and you will be well impressed. Tony still holding the long notes with ease, it was such a pleasure to watch him in action, making everything look so easy. He worked the stage like the professional he is, getting the banter/singing ratio just right. Then jumped into a winning trifecta of Only When You leave, Round and Round and I’ll Fly For You, giving all the Spandau Ballet fans something to scream about. The dance floor was full of eighties tragics cutting moves like they did way back when, if it was their only night out for the year they were making the most of it.

The lighting was of the highest standard as was the sound, the two came together to make the perfect setting for Through The Barricades, it is Tony’s favourite song to sing and he had a straight-up double jack to accompany him until percussionist extraordinaire Lily Gonzalez jumped front and centre to sing. Talk about chills! They flew to celestial heights spotlighted in white looking angelic as they sang with such purpose and gave this beautiful song the recognition it deserved. Tony’s voice is like chocolate syrup, rich and smooth, proving that he still has what it takes so many years after the inception of Spandau Ballet.  Another great addition from the new album was Tonight Belongs To Us, there was so much to love about this whole set.  So many terrific songs on the setlist and with Queen currently in Australia we were treated to a fabulous version of Somebody To Love getting the crowd up and about bringing their singing voices to the front.

Tony’s band were brilliant but I feel I didn’t not give them the attention they deserved, but Mr Hadley held my gaze for the entire show, he was suave, sophisticated, and that voice like velvet….. anyway, kudos to all on stage you made the show what it was with your sensational musicianship, thank you. Instinction, Chant No 1 (I Don’t Need This Pressure One) and the one that got all the hands in the air True. Arms swaying from side to side, Tony’s delivery was absolutely faultless, it is a lovers song and I think the couple next to me stepped back in time to their local Blue Light Disco. I get a cheeky snog, but they were next level, get a room next time! True really was beautiful and the show could easily have ended there, our singing voices were exhausted, but lucky for the packed house, Tony had a few left.  LifelIne had the floor bouncing, then with no encore it was straight into the jewel in the crown, GOLD! The lighting turned a stunning liquid amber as Tony belted it out with gusto the floor was pounding, the fans taking over the vocals “YOU ARE GOLD!! ALWAYS BELIEVE IN YOUR SOUL, YOU’VE GOT THE POWER TO KNOW, YOURE INDESTRUCTIBLE”. Such pertinent lyrics in today’s day and age, remember people always believe in yourself.  Tony left looking on with a twinkle in his eye and a smile on his face. He struck a pose looking quite ‘James Bond’ on a few occasions, maybe there is something in that, can you act Tony?!

After the final bows were taken to rapturous applause the fans streamed out of The Forum all enjoying that step back in time for one night, feeling young and free in the music of their youth. There was so much to love above tonight’s show, Tony Hadley far exceeded my expectations, and I am walking away one very happy lady. Do the eighties songs still cut it today, you bet your Sony walkman they do!
