AIR SUPPLY The Lost In Love Experience celebrating 47 years

In 2022, the band celebrates 47 years of performing…… the rest is music history…….

After much too long a wait, AIR SUPPLY return to their homeland to perform all-time classics including Love and Other Bruises, All Out Of Love, The One That You Love, and of course Lost In Love. The Lost In Love Experience is a true celebration of a career that spans over 47 years and has seen AIR SUPPLY achieve success after success, with so much amazing music still to come for their staunch legion of fans.

Making Love Out Of Nothing At All, Now and Forever, Every Woman In The World, and Sweet Dreams… these are songs that mean so much to so many, and Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock are joined by their stellar band to present the songs the fans love, in an amazing show that will be one to remember forever.

When Lost in Love was released in Australia in October 1976, it quickly soared to the top of the charts, and went on to be named Song of the Year. Seven consecutive Top-Five singles at that time equaled The Beatles’ run. AIR SUPPLY’s albums Lost in Love, The One That You Love, Now & Forever, and The Greatest Hits have since sold in excess of 40 million copies.

“It means the world to us to celebrate this major milstone by performing in our homeland of Australia,” said Russell Hitchcock about the upcoming tour. Graham Russell added, “On our 47th year as Air Supply, nothing will make us more proud as going back to the place where it all began!”.

Make sure you get your tickets early to witness this spellbinding performance of AIR SUPPLY’s catalogue of wonderful songs – these will be very special nights with some of the most beautiful love songs ever written.

AIR SUPPLY: An international success story 47 years in the making…..

Graham Russell & Russell Hitchcock met on May 12, 1975, the first day of rehearsals for “Jesus Christ Superstar” in Sydney, Australia; they became instant friends with their common love for The Beatles and, of course, singing.

After the shows’ performances at 10:30, they would play pizza parlors, coffee bars and night clubs with just one guitar and two voices. They quickly gained a reputation for great harmonies and for original songs that Graham was constantly writing. They made a demo on a cassette of two songs, “Love and Other Bruises” and “If You Knew Me” and took it to every record company in Sydney. Everyone turned it down but one — CBS Records — who admired their unique style.

They made a single in one afternoon and it shot to number one on the national charts. Quickly the duo needed a name for their band and luckily Graham had a vision during a dream … and “Air Supply: was born!

That same year, they opened for Rod Stewart across Australia and then throughout the U.S. and Canada playing all of the famous huge venues before Rod would take the stage. They found new fans, but did not yet break the U.S. market.

Back in Australia they had to start again and made a record called Life Support. On this record were some treasures of songs, including “Lost in Love” which went Top 10 in Australia and somehow found its way to music industry executive Clive Davis in New York.

Clive immediately signed Air Supply to Arista Records and in 1980, “Lost in Love” became the fastest selling single in the world, leaping to the top of all of the charts. Now Air Supply was on their way. The second single was “All Out of Love,” and that went up the charts even quicker

Seven top-five singles later, Air Supply at that time had equaled The Beatles’ run of consecutive top five singles. The albums Lost in Love, The One That You Love, Now & Forever, and The Greatest Hits sold in excess of 20 million copies. “Lost in Love” was named Song of the Year in 1980, and, with the other singles, sold more than 10 million copies.

The trademark sound of Russell Hitchcock’s soaring tenor voice and Graham Russell’s simple yet majestic songs created a unique sound that would forever be known as Air Supply.

However, it is the live shows that always hold audiences captive around the world. They were the first Western group to tour China, Taiwan, and countless other countries that before would not allow pop music across their borders. In 1983 they recorded “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” by Jim Steinman which solidified the group as a permanent force in modern music. This song was released on The Greatest Hits album which soared past 7 million copies.

“Lost in Love”, “All Out of Love”, “The One That You Love”, “Sweet Dreams”, and “Making Love Out Of Nothing At All” have each achieved multi-million plays on the radio.

Air Supply began to tour with lavish productions in places that no one had been before. In South America and Asia they became a part of everyone’s life. In 1988, Air Supply was asked to participate in Australia’s bicentennial celebration and to play for HRH Prince Charles and HRH Princess Diana, where they learned both were already ardent fans. This engagement would be one of their most treasured moments in their career.

In 1989, they recorded “The Earth Is” album selling over a million copies outside of the U.S. This album was followed by “The Vanishing Race” CD and, with the singles “Goodbye” and “It’s Never Too Late”, again saw multi-platinum success. The following albums, “News from Nowhere”, “Yours Truly”, and “Across the Concrete Sky” all gave their second greatest hits album multi-platinum status as they traveled the world each and every year.

In July 2005, their live DVD, “It Was 30 Years Ago Today” celebrated 30 years of success around the world and in that same month, Air Supply smashed attendance records when, in Cuba, at one show they played to 175,000 people. Also 2005 saw the release of “The Singer and the Song”, an acoustic album of many of their big hits which received critical acclaim.

In May 2010, the long-awaited album, “Mumbo Jumbo” –also the duo’s first studio recording in eight years- was released. Recorded at Graham Russell’s home studio near Park City, Utah and at a state of the art facilities in Las Vegas with top session musicians and an orchestra, “Mumbo Jumbo” was produced by Russell and engineered by Sean O’Dwyer, whose credits include Pink Floyd, Randy Newman and Blink-182. Among the 14-tracks, released by was the first single “Dance With Me,” which earned Air Supply a prominent feature article in Billboard Magazine titled “Still Supplying The Hits After 35 Years.”

Just weeks after composer and vocalist Graham Russell was honored with a BMI Million-Air

Certificate recognizing 3 million performances of the duo’s hit “All Out Of Love,” Air Supply’s new song was the #1 most added track on the FMQB AC40 Chart, and also one of the most added on the R&R (Radio and Records) AC Chart and the Mediabase AC chart.

The band then released its live Jerusalem show for a DVD featuring two new songs, “Sanctuary” and “Everywhere.” “Sanctuary” was released as a single on iTunes in December 2011.

They have recently released their new album… the Lost In Love Experience… recorded with the Prague Symphony – a stand out fan favorite is the touching “I Adore You.”

Air Supply performed their 5000th concert in 2019 … that took place in Las Vegas

In January of 2020 the Herald Sun proclaimed Air Supply in the Top 5 of Greatest Aussie Bands of All Time. In stellar company with the likes of AC DC, BEE GEES and INX. And for Valentine’s Day they were profiled for an in-depth U.S. television network interview on CBS Sunday Morning.

In 2013 AIR SUPPLY were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame acknowledging their massive international achievements as one of Australia’s most successful musical exports.

And get this stranger-than-fiction final fact: In over 46 years, Graham and Russell have never had a real argument. Believe it!

And to the delight of music lovers everywhere… the story continues.

Placebo Share New Single ‘Happy Birthday In The Sky’ From Album ‘Never Let Me Go’ Out March 25

Placebo have shared a brand-new single, Happy Birthday In The Sky. It is the final single that will be released ahead of the band’s highly-anticipated new album Never Let Me Go, which is due March 25.

Never Let Me Go is released on 25th March 2022. Pre-order the album here.

Happy Birthday In The Sky follows recent singles Beautiful James, Surrounded By Spies and Try Better Next Time, each of which offered its own unique glimpse into what has been weighing on the minds of the band in the near decade since their last album release. Where the album’s opening singles considered themes of personal accountability, tech-saturation, and humanity’s true place in the world, Happy Birthday In The Sky is Placebo at their heart-breaking best. Brian Molko grips every word and releases it in a flurry of controlled expressive outpouring, revisiting dark emotions to tell a story of loss and the mechanisms we use to cope with it. He comments:

Happy Birthday In The Sky for me, is one of the more heartbreaking moments on the album. Happy Birthday In The Sky is a phrase that I’ve been using for quite some time. When I say, happy birthday to people who aren’t with us anymore, it communicates the kind of heartbreak that we’re really, really good at communicating I think. You know that sense of loss, that sense of desperation. It’s as if a part of your body and your soul has been ripped from you unfairly. And you pine and you pine, and you wait.

What I am thinking is that this is kind of so visceral and so intense emotionally that it’s really going to communicate something very powerful to the listener. And that’s basically all I’m interested in. At what cost? Who cares. As long as the song really, really moves people, then whatever sacrifices you have to make in order to get there are fine with me. It’s not such a bad thing to inhabit these emotions – you’re very, very much alive and in the moment while you’re doing so.”

Always serving up fan favourites spanning from their 1995 debut up to their recent tenth studio, 2021’s ARIA #1 Medicine At Midnight, Foo Fighters are the world’s premiere stadium/arena attraction. Last week’s triumphant concert in Geelong was nothing short of unforgettable:

The Age
‘The show ended with a spectacular version of Everlong and Grohl on his knees, thanking the crowd as fireworks exploded over the stadium’
Rolling Stone
‘As the lights dimmed and the crowd roared, Foo Fighters appeared, feeling like a sight for sore eyes in the wake of empty stages and cancelled tours. Dave Grohl walked around the stage, staring back at the crowd as we all wordlessly exchanged the sentiment that it had been far too long’

Joining Foo Fighters as special guests in Nov/Dec are:

Sunshine Coast (QLD) ‘Smoko’ trio The Chats (Perth, Sydney + Brisbane) are one of Australia’s most exciting – and most fun – punk rock bands, with their notorious single going viral immediately upon release. They’ve toured with heavyweights Queens Of The Stone Age and Cosmic Psychos, selling out shows in AU, New Zealand, England, Scotland, and Europe.

Renowned for a ball-tearing live show, Amyl and The Sniffers (Wellington + Auckland) won an ARIA Award for ‘Best Rock Album’ last year, capping off a wild 12 months for the lunatic, likeable punks. Their 2021 effort Comfort to Me debuted at #2 in Australia, #21 in the UK, and #18 in the US, and was BBC6’s Album of the Day.

Channelling Riot Grrrl-era energy with a 2021 spin, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers (Melbourne) formed back at high school, the now 20 year-olds having cut their teeth with sets at Groovin’ The Moo, Laneway, Falls, Lost Paradise & Spilt Milk.

Having played some of the UK’s biggest festival stages in 2021, Manchester (UK) emo power-pop dual fronted outfit Hot Milk will perform on our shores for the very first time when they head down our way with the Foos’ (Melbourne, Brisbane + Sydney).

After taking out the triple j unearthed high crown in 2020, Adelaide two-piece Teenage Joans (Perth) have gone from strength to strength, sharing stages with acts such as Violent Soho, Ruby Fields, Clowns, Amy Shark and more.

Dick Move (Wellington + Auckland) are infamous already for their pumping live shows, their catalogue of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it punk anthems cutting, confronting, empowering and dripping with brash cheekiness and political angst.

These will be the biggest rock shows of 2022. Act quickly to secure your tickets… dates will sell out, don’t miss out!

Foo Fighters are Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee.

UK Legends UB40 have set their sights on Australia for October 2022!

The UK’s most successful Reggae band, UB40 have announced that their eagerly anticipated return to Australia will officially take place this October!

Originally set to tour Australia in October 2020 as part of their 40th anniversary, and to perform hits from their latest releases ‘For The Many’ ‘Bigga Baggariddim’, the reggae pioneers will finally grace the shores of Australia this year, with huge shows planned for the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Despite the many unknowns in international touring, UB40 have stayed aggressively optimistic over the past 24 months, taking the time to perfect their brand new live show, just for Aussie audiences.

We always look forward to trips down under. Said the band in a statement today It’s one of our favourite places in the world to perform, but with so many uncertainties in the world these past two years, we felt it was far more important to focus on everyone’s safety. Now that borders have reopened, we’re finally ready to get back to Australia and perform the show fans have been waiting for!”

For those lucky enough to score passes to the band’s Australian tour, tickets will still remain valid for all upcoming shows.

Having previously sold out their 2015, 2017 and 2018 tours, the band
return to Australia with plans for a more extensive tour hitting Sunshine Coast and The Gold Coast, as well as the more usual Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth

The ‘40th Anniversary For The Many Tour’ will offer audiences a taste of classic hits like ‘
Food for Thought’, ‘1 in 10’, ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Kingston Town’ and ‘Can’t Help falling In Love With You’, as well as tracks from the latest releases ‘For The Many’ and ‘Bigga Baggariddim’ which will be performed live in Australia for the first time.

One of the UK biggest exports UB40 have achieved over forty top 40 hits in their native Britain with international sales of over
100 million records, the band are one of the biggest UK music acts of all time, and continue to record charting albums while touring across the world including regular trips to Australia where they have firmly found a place in the hearts of fans.

After four decades of success including their hit singles, international stadium tours and festival headline slots, the band suffered the devastating loss of founder member, lyricist and lead sax player Brian Travers who lost his long battle with cancer in 2021. Although “There is a giant Brian shaped hole that can never be filled”, they continue with the surviving key founding members and songwriting core, staying true to and building on the legacy and ethos of the band.

UB40 are founder members Robin Campbell (vocals and guitar), Earl Falconer (bass, vocal), Jimmy Brown (drums) and Norman Hassan (percussion, vocals) with new lead vocalist Matt Doyle. The band also features Martin Meredith (sax) and Laurence Parry (trumpet), who have both been in UB40’s touring and recording line-up for over twenty years, Tony Mullings (keyboards) and Ian Thompson (sax) creating a genre-defining synergy of horns and rhythm section that are uniquely UB40.

HONNE: Touring Australia in September 2022

Secret Sounds are thrilled to announce that UK alternative-pop duo HONNE will be hitting Australian shores in September. They come armed with a new album in what marks their biggest tour down under, and in response to their immediately upgraded and sold-out shows of 2019.

Kicking off in Brisbane, HONNE’s Andy and James will also take on Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide for their first Australian shows in three years.

cf67083eff332613445bcfce17f18d76.png

In the past, we’ve limited ourselves“, says the duo. “We might get to a section of a song and things are getting really exciting, but we then pull ourselves back and say, ‘Can we really do that?’. Now, we’ve sidestepped the rules and done whatever we wanted to do.

This sense of freedom permeates the album’s tracklist, which is defined by exciting collaborations with the likes of Khalid (‘Three Strikes’), Griff (‘Back On Top’), and 88 Rising’s NIKI (‘Coming Home’). A glistening pop feel and intelligent song-writing come to a head with Sam Smith, jazz prodigy Reuben James, MNEK, and Arlo Parks also co-writing songs on the album.

Following critically acclaimed LPs, 2016’s ‘Warm on a Cold Night’ and 2018’s ‘Love Me/Love Me Not’, this latest release brings together everything HONNE has worked towards so far, while simultaneously pushing their music into broad and exciting new spaces.

They’re gearing up to share their newest sounds with the world, with a tour that spans the US, UK, and Europe, before gracing Australian shores come September.

HOODOO GURUS Release “I COME FROM YOUR FUTURE”

A RETURN TO THE GURUS' RAW GARAGE-ROCK ROOTS, “I COME FROM YOUR FUTURE” IS BEING SERVICED TO COMMUNITY RADIO AND INDEPENDENT MEDIA ONLY, AS A THANK YOU TO THOSE OUTLETS THAT SUPPORTED THE GROUP BEFORE ANYONE ELSE, AND AS A REMINDER OF THE GROUP'S DAYS PLAYING THE TRADE UNION CLUB AND THE TOTE AND TOURING IN A TARAGO.

A rare single from the pen and throat of guitarist Brad Shepherd (the last one was “You Open My Eyes” back in '94), the new Hoodoo Gurus single “I Come From Your Future” is a raw high energy garage-rocker that calls to mind the early days of the Gurus, when their primal rockers like “Leilani” and “The Echo Chamber” would light up their favourite venues like the Trade Union Club in Sydney and the Tote in Melbourne,  and when they and kindred spirits like The Screaming Tribesmen, The Scientists and The Died Pretty would traverse the interstate highways in rented Tarago's and stay in fleapits.

As the last single to appear before the release of their new album Chariot of the Gods in the 40th year of their existence, it's appropriate the track also serves as a thank you of sorts to the grass-roots media which was the first to support the Gurus back in the early '80s. The Gurus released their first single on an indie label, and it was thanks primarily to airplay on community radio stations like Melbourne's 3RRR and 3PBS, Sydney's 2SER, Brisbane's 4ZZZ, Perth's 6RTR and Adelaide's 5UV (now Radio Adelaide) and 5DDD (now Three D Radio) – and of course Triple J (formerly Double J), which still only served Sydney – that they were able to pull people to their shows as they started to venture out of their inner-city Sydney base. The Gurus have decided to acknowledge their debt of gratitude by making “I Come From Your Future” available to independent radio ahead of anyone else.

Raw it may be, but “I Come From Your Future” is not atypical of the new album, which is as stripped back and powerful as anything the Gurus have ever recorded. Indeed, the first singles from the album saw Dave Faulkner expressing righteous anger that fuelled the group to find hitherto untapped savagery, while more recent singles “Get Out Of Dodge” and “Carry On” re-tapped the Gurus' classic power-pop roots, as previously heard in the likes of “Come Any Time” and “What's My Scene”. The album contains an array of other melodic Faulkner finery –  great songs like “Settle Down” and “My Imaginary Friend” – and a bit more Shephard swankery – “Equinox” could easily have given Brad two singles on the album.  And then there's the psychedelic sprawl of the title track. Fans who pick up the double vinyl edition of the album will get a few extra tracks, including a fuzzed-out and thumping cover of “I Wanna Be Your Man” – the classic Lennon & McCartney tune that the Rolling Stones made their own in '64 – and a Nuggets-worthy, guitar'n'harp wailing version of Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde R&B workout “Obviously 5 Believers”.

Gurus fans will get to hear the new album in its entirety – plus more – ahead of its release when eMusic Live streams a special event recorded at Damien Gerard Studios on the NSW Central Coast. Going out internationally at 8:00pm AEDT / WST / PST / EST / GMT on Thursday, 10 March, the evening before Chariot Of The Gods’ official release, the stream is designed both as a special album preview and a thank you to the Gurus' loyal fans around the world who have put up with canceled tours by the band over the past two years. The stream will include an opportunity for fans to chat with the band live.

Chariot Of The Gods is out March 11, and, as previously announced, the band will follow the album's release with a national run of dates with special guests from the USA The Dandy Warhols – a band who share many of the same underground influences as the Gurus – with hand-picked local supports in each city, including all-female indie pop up and comers The Buoys in Sydney, indie guitar pop legends Even in Melbourne and Adelaide and new power-pop prodigies Rinehearts in Perth

Tickets for Hoodoo Gurus on eMusic Live on Thursday, 10 March 2022 are available from www.emusiclive.com NOW.
