BLACKBRIAR Release Brand New Song ‘Moonflower’

Today BLACKBRIAR release their brand-new song ‘Moonflower‘ featuring Marjana Seminka. After the album release of A Dark Euphony in September last year the band shows once again that they are always working on new songs and their creativity seems to know no bounds.

Moonflower tells a love story between a female vampire and a mortal girl and transports you to a bygone era where darkness and desire intertwine. It’s inspired by the 19th-century gothic novel ‘Carmilla’, a timeless story that predates even the infamous Dracula. The song features a guest songstress Marjana Semkina, who I think is the most perfect fit for making this Moonflower an ethereal, haunting, and dark duet.

About BLACKBRIAR:
“Some say that there is beauty in darkness – terrifying visitors, worlds far gone, gothic romances, bone-chilling legends, sin-eaters, burning hearts frozen in time, songs with a misleading voice, and a truthful whisper. This and so much more for you to discover on A Dark Euphony.” Such are the words of vocalist Zora Cock about the band’s upcoming sophomore album, set to release in fall 2023 on Nuclear Blast Records. A telling sign coming from a band who has revelled in gothic beauty and metallic darkness since their onset, spanning three EPs and a full-length album, along with long-time collaborator Joost van den Broek.

Formed in 2012 by Zora Cock, René Boxem, Bart Winters, and Frank Akkerman, they crafted their first single in 2014 with ‘Ready to Kill,’ but it was 2015’s second single ‘Until Eternity‘ that truly propelled them into the scene. A sweeping track with an equally compelling and beautiful video, it continues to draw many to the act with over 20 million views since its debut. Taking advantage of the growing buzz surrounding the band, they independently recorded and released their first EP, Fractured Fairytales, as well as acquiring a second guitarist in Robin Koezen. This EP laid down an impressive foundation for the band’s ethereal and breathtaking sound and brought about new opportunities for the act, including tour dates in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Hungary, and more, where the band played alongside EPICA, HALESTORM, IN THIS MOMENT, DELAIN and MaYan.

To keep moving ahead with full control of their creative ideals, the band successfully crowdfunded their follow-up EP, We’d Rather Burn, and brought it to life in October 2018. This EP would be the first time the band worked alongside esteemed producer Joost van den Broek to arrange and produce the effort, and this fruitful collaboration allowed BLACKBRIAR’s whimsical and enigmatic sound to reach new sonic heights. Released the same day as their self-made video for ‘I’d Rather Burn,’ this EP showcased a stronger sense of dreamy atmosphere and brought listeners beautifully grim tales of witches, banshees, and sea sirens. In the time following, keyboardist Ruben Wijga (ex-Re-Vamp) took a larger role within the band and began playing shows, after being involved in the song-writing process since Fractured Fairytales.

A busy 2019 followed, the band released a haunting single in May entitled ‘Snow White and Rose Red.’ A duet with Ulli Perhonen, their take on the Grimm’s fairy-tale featured striking cinematic visuals to accompany the spellbinding track. Continuing to dig deeper into fairy-tale realms, BLACKBRIAR closed the year with their third EP, Our Mortal Remains. Ever sharpening their intoxicating blend of storytelling and breathtaking musicianship, the EP brought about new live exposures for the act as well. Small, sold-out tours with EPICA in 2019 and 2020, as well as a sold out opening for DELAIN’s Apocalypse & Chill release show in Utrecht followed, with more future plans then being put on hold due to COVID-19.

Championing their continued independence, which included everything from songwriting, maintaining their web presence, overseeing merch, as well as shooting and producing their own videos and photos, BLACKBRIAR reached out to their ever-growing and loyal fanbase for assistance to make their full-length album a reality in 2020. Fans fervently heeded the call, reaching the € 25,000 goal in under 24 hours and ending with a total of € 70,000 and achieving all five stretch goals. An impressive accomplishment for an independent act, which also showcases a strong internet presence with over 230,000 YouTube subscribers and 56.5 million channel views as well as 37.9 million Spotify streams and 275,000 monthly streamers on the platform.

Entering 2021, the band relinquished a bit of control in signing exclusively with Doomstar Bookings to help properly support their highly anticipated first full-length album, The Cause of Shipwreck, which released in April. Once again recorded with renowned producer Joost van den Broek (EPICA, AYREON, POWERWOLF) at Sandlane Recording Facilities, this release showcased the band’s continued evolution into masterfully dark gothic storytelling and theatrical aesthetics that entice you into a deadly yet spellbinding musical paradise. On the live front, launching into success with six sold out Dutch club shows, they later extended into more European territories such as Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, France, and the Czech Republic as the band moved into 2022.

Despite a very successful 2021, the band still hungered for more, unleashing their latest single, ‘Fairy of the Bog‘ in December. A song about ‘het meisje van Yde’ (Yde girl), it’s a mixture of folklore, myth, and ancient local history wrapped into a more mystical and magical package that showcases what BLACKBRIAR does best. Due to winning ‘Drents Talent Award Culture 2021’ from ‘Stichting Kunst & Cultuur,’ BLACKBRIAR performed ‘I’d Rather Burn’ live on television together with the Dutch ‘Noordpool Orchestra in early 2022. In April, the band parted ways with founding member and bassist Frank Akkerman. Not a band to slow down, they welcomed Siebe Sol Sijpkens from The Netherlands as their new bassist. A happy and energetic performer with a lifetime of global performances, he is a welcome addition to the act as they continue to strive forward.

With their vision looking firmly into the future, with a major label behind them, they set their sights on 2023 to conjure their most deadly siren song yet. The band previously released the song ‘Crimson Faces‘ to celebrate their partnership with Nuclear Blast Records, and now the world eagerly awaits the release of A Dark Euphony this fall. Set to contain 10 new original songs as well as a bonus track, they recently released their first single from it with ‘My Soul’s Demise.’ According to Zora, “We’ve had the pleasure of working with producer and musical genius Joost van den Broek, and we gave it our all to write this record and feel that this is our most complete, personal, and mature album to date.” With this in mind, the band launched a pre-order campaign in April for the release, full of unique perks, which has been quite successful already. They have also been preparing on the road, with festival shows Wave Gotik Treffen, SummerBreeze, and Rock the Lakes in 2023, as well as being a special guest on CHARLOTTE WESSELS’s Club Tour.

With accolades behind them, such as being nominated three times for ‘Best Artist’ in EuroSonic/Noorderslag‘s Popgala Noord (2018, 2020, 2022), and continued fan support with current monthly streaming totals on YouTube and Spotify near 1.5 million streams, the world is primed and ready for a spectacular journey into darkness and beauty.

PARKWAY DRIVE
ANNOUNCE 20 YEAR ANNIVERSARY TOUR

WITH SPECIAL GUESTS
I PREVAIL (USA)
THE GHOST INSIDE (USA) + VOID OF VISION

Two decades ago, a band that would go on to pioneer and dominate the landscape of heavy music was born on the sunny shores of Byron Bay. Now in 2024, Australian metal titans PARKWAY DRIVE will triumphantly return to home soil this September to celebrate their 20th anniversary with their biggest headline tour to date, with the 20 Year Anniversary Tour set to ignite stadiums and arenas across the country, alongside very special guests I PREVAIL (USA), THE GHOST INSIDE (USA) and Void Of Vision.

A world-first experience and 20 unforgettable years in the making, Australia will play home in 2024 to PARKWAY DRIVE‘s brand new production; the band’s biggest show they have ever produced fittingly set to christen in their own backyard as part of the 20 Year Anniversary Tour.

“Australia, it’s been a while. To be honest, it feels like forever. We didn’t plan it to be this way, but then again we didn’t plan on making it this far in the first place.
So here it is, we’re finally back, with the biggest headlining tour we have done, anywhere, ever, full stop. A celebration of a 20 year journey, of the roads we have walked through, the generations, to the path we still define, our own. 20 years, through blood sweat and tears. Still Australian, still unbreakable. Australia, turn the fuck up and make us proud, this is one for the history books”
– Winston McCall, Parkway Drive

Wielding an incomparable legacy lined with boundless innovation, the juggernaut journey for PARKWAY DRIVE from teenage metal underdogs into becoming an unstoppable global force is one most could only dream of. With seven full-length albums in their wake, PARKWAY DRIVE have also scored three consecutive #1 releases on the ARIA Albums Chart courtesy of 2015’s Ire, 2018’s Reverence and, most recently, 2022’s Darker Still. With six of their albums certified Gold in Australia and multiple ARIA wins under their belts, the five-piece have also garnered worldwide chart success, cementing their status as a festival-headlining behemoth alongside three documentaries, a live album, millions of streams and thousands of live performances.

Also armed with an unforgettable live prowess which has sold out arenas and stupefied festival crowds worldwide, PARKWAY DRIVE‘s formidable reputation in a live setting doesn’t merely live up to the hype; it sets the hype on fire, literally. Transcending their metalcore foundations into another stratosphere, the spectacle of a PARKWAY DRIVE performance is one that stays with you well after the stage has emptied, with the band previously headlining the likes of Wacken, Good Things Festival in Australia and So What?! Festival amongst countless shows with some of the biggest names in metal, including Lamb Of God, Soulfly and Killswitch Engage.

Platinum-certified and twice Grammy-nominated Michigan rock powerhouse I PREVAIL will return down under this September to unleash their towering wares Australia-wide. An arena-level band, I PREVAIL have racked up billions of streams, close to 400 million views on YouTube, and toured the globe extensively. Catch I PREVAIL playing hits from across their entire catalogue this September.

Forming in California, THE GHOST INSIDE have survived and thrived against unimaginable odds since erupting onto the scene with their 2008 debut album Fury and the Fallen Ones. Blending the new wave of metalcore with driving punk hues, THE GHOST INSIDE cleave aggressive sounds with thoughtful thematics and melodics, and are set to release their sixth album Searching for Solace this April.

The Melbourne entity known as VOID OF VISION have solidified their standing as one of the most innovative and sonically explosive acts in the modern heavy scene for over a decade. From performing at Australia’s first ever Knotfest in 2024 alongside Slipknot, Parkway Drive and Megadeth through to their most recent groundbreaking single Angel Of Darkness, VOID OF VISION ceaselessly astonish.

FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE Returns With New Single ‘Pendulum’

Sometimes you have to die first to fully understand what life is.” – Francesco Paoli

Death… our inevitable ruin that calls for us sooner or later. Many who are fortunate enough to temporarily escape its fatal clutches experience life altering changes, finding renewed purpose, rejuvenated creative spirit and a reawakening of the soul. Such as the story goes for FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE frontman Francesco Paoli who in 2021 was involved in a tragic mountain climbing accident that left him clinging to life with years of recovery ahead, and ultimately inspiring the band’s first music in years.

Today marks the monumental return of Paoli and Italian symphonic metal giants FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE as the band releases their first new music since the devastating accident. Inspired by horrific event, the new single ‘Pendulum’ swings with intense ferocity and baroque classical movements, seething with anguished pain.

Commenting on the song, Paoli says:

This is the first song we release since my ‘dance’ with death, back in August 2021. It’s obvious that such a life changing event would have affected our music. It took a toll on me, physically and mentally, and sharing my experience is also part of my healing process. Pendulum is just the opening chapter of a bigger story, which is yet to be told…

Mixed and mastered by Grammy-nominated producer Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Epica, Arch Enemy), ‘Pendulum’ encapsulates all the core elements that FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE are known for: sheer violence, majestic orchestrations and soaring operatic melodies. The stunning artwork was created by Italian artist Ludovico Cioffi.

The new single is accompanied by a stunning music video directed by Martina L. McLean (GHOST, OCEANA). Watch here: https://youtu.be/Lkv9v-W5PAY

Paoli adds about the video: “The music video, realized by visionary Italian director Martina L. McLean, turned my unfortunate incident into a monumental visual experience, an awe-inspiring blend of obscure symbolism, surreal architectures and nightmarish mythological creatures. It perfectly portraits the struggle and the desperation of that day, a day of defeat… but also the day of my rebirth.”

About FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE:

Born in 2007, Fleshgod Apocalypse quickly established themselves among the leaders of symphonic death metal. With 5 critically acclaimed full-length albums and countless worldwide tours and festival performances.

Fleshgod Apocalypse joined Nuclear Blast Records in 2011 and would go on to release seminal records Agony (2011), King (2016) and their most recent, the highly praised Veleno (2019).

Following the release of their 2020 EP, No, the Covid Pandemic took hold of the world bringing things to a halt. Soon after, the band’s frontman, mastermind Francesco Paoli was involved in a near death climbing accident, resulting in years of recovery and the band’s temporary hiatus.

In 2023, the band emerged back full-force once again commanding audiences on tours throughout Europe, with eyes set on their next, life affirming record to be released later this year.

ELECTRIC SIX Announce August / September 2024 Greatest Hits Australian Tour

ELECTRIC SIX Announce Greatest Hits Australian Tour

The disco-punk band at the end of the world, ELECTRIC SIX return after a completely Sold-Out tour in 2023.

An ELECTRIC SIX show is a concert, a theatrical experience and an art exhibit.

It will be the ultimate audio-visual extravaganza as they power through their Greatest Hits including such tunes as ‘Danger! High Voltage’, ‘Gay Bar’, ‘Dance Commander’, Synthesizer’, ‘Down at McDonaldz’, ‘I Buy the Drugs’ and more.

Renowned for their dynamic live shows and eclectic musical style, ELECTRIC SIX seem to have something for everyone: the funky popping rhythms and falsetto vocals of disco combined with dirty rock guitar, catchy melodic hooks and a maverick attitude channeled through provocative lyrics about the seedier side of life. It’s not that serious or deeply meaningful, but it sure is a lot of fun! With a discography spanning almost three decades, the band continues to captivate audiences with their genre-defying music and infectious passion.

Trashy, disco fun is what ELECTRIC SIX are made of. Join them as they dazzle you with their Greatest Hits for a night that you won’t forget anytime soon!

“Gay Bar starts and the packed crowd at the front explodes into a mosh pit. I haven’t been in a pit in ages, but the riff and nostalgia of the song takes over. What a song. What a bar”

“A raucous and eclectic crowd were in the mood to party… and there wasn’t a soul in the place who left without a huge smile, such is the effect of Electric Six” (The Razors Edge)

“One of the best shows I have seen” (HiFi Way)

ELECTRIC SIX August / September 2024 Australian Tour Dates

Thursday 22nd August – BRISBANE, The Triffid
