Secret Sounds is excited to reveal that alt-pop three-piece Telenova will be joining girl in red on the Australian leg of her DOING IT AGAIN ASIA/OCEANIA TOUR. Telenova will open shows across the country, with dates in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
A tapestry of dark romanticism, slick musicianship and vivid aesthetics that have fuelled Melbourne outfit Telenova since their 2021 debut EP Tranquilize. Powered by the ubiquitous lead single “Bones” and the sweeping sonics of follow-up EP Stained Glass Love, Telenova have been passionately embraced at home and abroad, thanks to support from BBC 6 Music, KCRW, Vogue Paris, NME, triple j and more.
The distinctive universe of Telenova – shadowy, sample-driven alt-pop with prominent trip-hop and electronica influence and a touch of playful energy – is the design of lead vocalist, songwriter and filmmaker Angeline Armstrong and multi-instrumentalists Edward Quinn and Joshua Moriarty.
AIR’s Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2022, they also appeared in triple j’s Hottest 100 of the previous year. Telenova have embarked on multiple sold-out tours, graced nearly every major festival across Australia, and played eighteen different cities in Europe and the UK in late 2023.
More recently, the band have released tracks “Power” and “Teardrop” from their upcoming debut album Time Is A Flower, set to release Friday 16 August. Taking their distinct brand of cinematic alt-pop to the dancefloor, “Power” is sleek, evolved disco with a shadowy twist. Crafted with Grammy-nominated producer Styalz Fuego (Troye Sivan, Tate McRae, Odesza), “Power” follows previous single “Teardrop” and finds Telenova at their peak – weaving themes of love, fear, and the pursuit of light into a lush, ornate track full of suspense and drive. Having wrapped up a run of headline shows across Australia in May, the band unveiled their biggest international tour yet, playing to crowds in New Zealand, Europe and the UK, including an appearance at Athens’ biggest music festival Release.
