My Chemical Romance Add Shows To 2023 Australian Tour

My Chemical Romance (aka MCR/My Chem) have today announced additional shows to their 2023 Australian arena tour.

These shows will be the band’s first Australian shows since their appearance at Big Day Out festival in 2012. MCR are thrilled to announce new shows at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Monday, March 13, followed by Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on Thursday, March 16 and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on Monday, March 20, in addition to the already announced, sold out dates.

Tickets for all shows go on sale at 12 pm Wednesday, December 15.

My Live Nation members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale beginning 3 pm Tuesday, December 14 until 11 am Wednesday, December 15.

For complete tour and ticket information, visit: livenation.com.au.

Formed in NJ, My Chemical Romance made their debut in 2002 with the independently released album “I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love”. The band signed to Reprise Records the following year and made its major-label debut with 2004’s “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge”, now 3x certified Platinum. The album contained the Platinum hit ‘I’m Not Okay (I Promise),’ the Gold-certified ‘Helena,’ and ‘The Ghost of You.’ Rolling Stone hailed the 3x Platinum “The Black Parade” as one of the top albums of 2006. Lead single ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ topped both Billboard’s Alternative Songs tally and the UK Official Singles chart and is now 3x Platinum. The band toured extensively behind the album – appearing as characters from “The Black Parade” – and released the live album “The Black Parade is Dead!” in 2008. “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys” was released in 2010 and topped Billboard’s Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums charts. It was followed by a series of singles later released as “Conventional Weapons” in 2013.

Selling out stadiums across the globe and providing the soundtrack of a generation, Live Nation is beyond excited to welcome My Chemical Romance back to Australia!

“It’s with this landmark concert that MCR ceases to be a nostalgic act, and proves its mettle as a timeless, rock & roll band for the ages.” Rolling Stone

As the crowd slowly left the venue, some fans had streaks of tears lining their faces — a fitting finale for a group that had been away for far too long.” Variety

Grace Petrie Announces Australian Tour

UK’s Grace Petrie makes a return to Australia this January, bringing her polemical folk anthems, acerbic lyricism and open-hearted performance style to venues all over the eastern part of the country.

Since the release of her 2018 album ‘Queer as Folk’, Petrie has been launched into the mainstream spotlight as one of the subversives to watch in the folk world. Petrie draws comparisons to Billy Bragg for her delivery and is fast becoming a recognised voice for feminism, the queer community, and anyone else who doesn’t want to take any more crap.

Petrie’s first appearances in Australia in 2020 saw sold out shows and this first headline tour since then promises to take her to the next level with Australian audiences looking to be challenged, looking for a good laugh, and wanting to leave a show with a fire in their belly.

Says Grace of her upcoming Australian tour,

“I first came to Oz in February 2020 and fell in love with the country and especially the fantastic audiences, and immediately started scheming to return as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the pandemic had other ideas, so it’s been three years since my last Australian headline tour, which feels like way too long! Since then, I’ve released my new album Connectivity which topped the UK download chart, so I’m excited to get to share some new tunes with Aussie friends, and Woodford Folk Festival is legendary, so I’m thrilled to be appearing there. From there we’re on the road for three weeks and hitting up some of my favourite cities – I can’t wait to get back to some favourites like Sydney, Melbourne and Canberra but also really excited to do some new places this time, including my first trip to Tassie! I couldn’t be happier to be finally coming back.”

Petrie’s latest album ‘Connectivity’ was built from the reflections of what humanity means in a world struggling against division and destruction. Glued to one place for the first time during the pandemic, this is a record made firmly out of Petrie’s comfort zone: slowly, intricately, and over many close-up, painstaking months. The result is the most honest collection of songs she has ever shared. It is about storms and the rebuilding that follows them, and about how to find a way to carry on the fight for a better tomorrow when every day you are told you’ve already lost. It is Petrie’s most personal – and yet most universal – album to date.

‘Connectivity’ reached 37 in the main UK album chart, and topped the UK download chart week of release without a record label and as a completely independent release, and is available wherever good music is streamed.

nothing,nowhere. 2023 Australia Tour

Australia, brace yourselves as the American genre-bending alternative, pop, rap and punk songwriter, singer and guitarist Joe Mulherin aka nothing, nowhere. will be touring in February 2023 for his debut national headline tour.

nothing, nowhere. released his fourth album, TRAUMA FACTORY in 2021. The single, fake friend, taken from the album marked his first song to ever enter the Billboard Alternative Airplay chart with the single now clocking over 16 million Spotify streams and almost 1 million Youtube views.

“TRAUMA FACTORY is an accumulation of songs written during a confusing time. it is about accepting the present and following your true north through the pain and suffering of human life. I wanted to make an album that was truly genreless and inspire others to challenge themselves artistically. I believe the most inspiring art is unpredictable and unrestrictive. to me that’s what TRAUMA FACTORY is.” says nothing, nowhere.

nothing, nowhere. also features on Stand Atlantic’s most successful single, deathwish, which has had almost 25 million Spotify streams alone.

nothing, nowhere. is about a connection. It’s one he finds with fans around the world, who gather to see him play on tour and to listen to his songs online. It’s that connection that urges the singer to place his fears aside and step onstage each night to share his art. He sees the potential to help, to make a change, however small it may be and that is why he brings his music out of the Vermont wildness.

The tour starts on Monday 6 February at the Amnplifier Bar in Perth before it makes it way across the country to Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane before finishing up on Sunday 12 February at 170 Russell, Melbourne.

BLACK SUMMER Shares New Song & Music Video OUT TODAY!!!!

Dark, lavish and impossibly hypnotic, Australian EDM maverick Black Summer, aka Rhys Toms, unveils an exciting new artistic chapter today via his latest single Cernunnos. A dazzling new track, entirely written, performed and produced by Black Summer, Cernunnos also paves the way for the young artist’s impending new album Channel Horror, with the deliciously macabre-inspired full-length due out TODAY!!!.

Innovative, entrancing and a gnarly take on the hip hop realm, Cernunnos oozes with glossy beats, woozy synths and the sharp vocals of Rhys himself, calling to mind the smooth stylings of JPEGMafia, Denzel Curry, Iglooghost and SpaceGhostPurrp. And while the track confidently flows with effortless ease, Cernunnos ultimately marks a significant turning point in the Black Summer creative journey; and also the first time the world has witnessed Rhys’ vocals in full swing, as Rhys reveals, I felt like it was time to step to a new level, I always wanted to do vocals but never had the confidence, I’ve been working on my voice for a long time because I always saw myself as an all-around artist and not just a producer. The ideas I had were so specific for this album that I felt the only way I could get the vision I had was to step out of my comfort zone and be the vocalist too. This single represents almost a rebirth of myself as an artist, it’s about dealing with problems in my personal life – like toxic relationships, trust issues, and becoming numb to the way I got treated by people. I took all of that and channelled it into something creative. The song itself is named after an ancient Celtic deity called Cernunnos, a god of fertility, life, and resurrection. To me It represents a neutrality and being in harmony with what’s around you, I felt like it was symbolic of the stage I’m in with my music at the moment with how connected I feel to this new stage of my sound.”

Ryhs shared his Top 10 Songs of 2022.

  • 1. Kendrick Lamar – Father Time
“I genuinely love his whole new album but this song has to be my favorite, it feels so raw and emotional and I love the story telling in it. “
  • 2. SWV – Use Your Heart
“I’ve always loved this song and always will, something I will never skip if it comes on!”
  •  3. Dominique Guiot – Les Deux Poissons
“Something that grows on you everytime you listen to it. I have a whole playlist full of music like this but this has to be my favorite one.”
  • 4. JPEGMAFIA – Baby I’m Bleeding
“This has gotta be one of the most trippy songs I’ve ever heard, I love the way he plays with stereo and I’ve had this on repeat this year.”
  • 5. Piero Piccioni – It’s Possible
“This is my go to when I just wanna chill and have something in the background, it’s a beautiful track and very underrated  “
  • 6. Disclosure – White Noise
“Its a vibe, super nostalgic but I love it, still gonna be listening to this when I’m 70 “
  • 7. Don Toliver – Company
  • 8. Mason Lindtoth – Them’s Fightin’ Words
“A song from one of the trippiest games I’ve ever played. I love video games and this one is like walking through a psychedelic art gallery. The music is unmatched. “
  • 9. Denzel Curry – Ricky
“This is a song I’ve had in all my playlists since it came out. He’s one of my favorite artists and this song is the first song I show anybody when they ask me about his music.  “
  • 10. Wu-Tang Clan – Protect Ya Neck
“A classic and one of my top songs of all time, these guys are legendary and their music speaks for itself. Love this song “

Melbourne Guitar Show Is Set To Return in March 2023

The Melbourne Guitar Show is ready to make its rockin’ return in 2023, set to storm Caulfield Racecourse on March 4 and 5, with tickets on sale today from www.melbourneguitarshow.com.au. It’s been 3 long years since the last show was devoured by over 5,000 guitar and music loving punters, but we’re breaking open the cases, dusting down the show, oiling its neck, setting its action and tuning it to perfection for a grand return in 2023.

L – R: Liz Frencham, Nick Charles, Anna Scionti, Ash Grunwald, Minnie Marks, Shannon Bourne, Phil Manning, Charlie Bedford, Corey Legge – at 2019 MGS, photo credit Jason Rosewarne

Executive officer of the AMA, Alex Masso says, “The association is pleased to be able to announce the re-birth of our iconic show in 2023. The industry has missed the chance to meet face-to-face and talk to guitar enthusiasts about our great products.

“There has been a huge interest in the guitar over the past couple of years, with a big spike in demand during the pandemic. This is an instrument for everyone and the old stereotypes of shredders and being a male dominated instrument are fading away. Even as music changes over time it remains the most popular instrument, Melbourne Guitar Show is a showcase for the wide range of guitars and guitarists we have in Australia.”

Thrilled to present #MGS2023 once again, MGS organiser, Rob Walker says, “It’s exciting to see the show back again adding value to the live music industry after the unusual times of the last couple of years. We are proud to present such a broad range and quality of guitars, amps and gear from the big brands to local artisans. And each year we get to put together a program of live music featuring the considerable talents of our guitar community. It’s a great weekend for anyone into music, particularly guitars, and we encourage you to bring the kids to inspire our next generation of guitarists.

“And not only will the #MGS2023 provide a hands-on chance to see and play such a broad range of gear, there’ll be bargains a plenty”, he added, “All the guitars you can eat in the biggest buffet of gear you can imagine!”

The Melbourne Guitar Show will be held at Caulfield Racecourse on March 4 & 5, 2023

DENNIS COMETTI Return with New Single “BLOKE ON THE RUN” & Aaustralian Tour Dates 🏃

Perth Punks Dennis Cometti (The Band) have come charging back with their brand new single “Bloke On The Run” and a stack of tour dates around the country in January ‘23.

“Bloke On The Run” is a punk rock history lesson about Western Australia’s best known bushranger, Moondyne Joe. A terrible crook yet brilliant escape artist, Moondyne Joe may not be as famous as his armored Victorian counterpart, but Dennis Cometti reckon his story is worthy of enshrining in riffs.

Guitarist/vocalist Alex Patching elaborates: “When Joseph Bolitho Johns was rotting away in the hull of a dingy ship en route to Fremantle’s convict establishment in early 1853, the idea that a local trio of bozos would dedicate two and half minutes of AC/DC worship to his name probably never crossed his mind. In fact, Johns passed away a long time before AC/DC ever played their first note (73 years and three months to be roughly exact); even longer before Dennis Cometti laid down Bloke On The Run to tape in a shed in WA’s south west in the summer of 2021.

“Moondyne Joe may be an obscure character outside of Western Australia, but Dennis Cometti believe that our state’s greatest escape artist deserves a proper look in. Ned Kelly? Never heard of him.”

Dennis Cometti (The Band) deals in short, sharp rock warts ‘n’ anthems about life in the world’s most remote city. In 2020, the band released their debut, self-titled album featuring the unofficial Western Australia succession anthem, “WAXIT”. With the WA border shut indefinitely at the time, “WAXIT” soundtracked glossy nightly news and A Current Affair packages about the state breaking free of the Australian Federation. Even the ABC’s election analyst Antony Green suggested the official WAxit party adopt the single as their anthem. The track was RTRFM’s most played song of 2020 and they also picked up a WAM award for best punk/hardcore act that same year.

Since then, the boys have toured some of Western Australia’s finest venues with the likes of Kim Salmon, Cosmic Psychos and The Chats who also took ‘em on their very first international tour earlier this year.

Dennis Cometti will be blokes on the run around Australia in January. Their headline tour kicks off with a couple of dates on the West Coast then shoots over to the East. After that, expect a new album from Western Australia’s finest self-appointed urban sociologists.

EMILY WILSON New Music Video “HUMMING HEART”

Enter into the lush and mysterious realm of Melbourne multi-instrumentalist Emily Victoria, with her brand new track Humming Heart making its way into the world today. Also accompanied by an immersive and intriguing music video, Humming Heart murmurs with rich instrumentals and effortless charm like a hazy twilight spell.

Inspired by the likes of Hatchie, Kate Bush, Caroline Polachek and The Sundays, Humming Heart is a layered, bold and dreamlike affair, equally warm and beguiling with a retro undertone amidst Emily’s textured vocals. Recorded to tape at Soundpark Studios with producer Nao Anzai, who has previously worked with Mildlife and The Teskey Brothers, Humming Heart hums along with synthesisers and production by Lewis Moody, additional vocal production provided by Hamish Patrick, guitars by Anthony Farrugia, Jacob Long on drums and Sam Clarke on bass, while also contemplating the unknown and existence in general, as Emily explains, “The lyrics for Humming Heart are quite abstract, like the video. It’s ultimately about having curiosity and intrigue, exploring the unknown and encountering the supernatural. It’s also about considering the cause of our existence and trying to make sense of one’s experience”.

The accompanying music video for Humming Heart seamlessly adheres itself to the absorbing and curious nature of the overall track, with Emily teaming up with Jeff Andersen Jnr on directing and editing duties to bring the luminous yet moody clip to life. Featuring Emily and contemporary dancer and artist Nikki Tarling, the clip ultimately evolved from an eccentric idea revolving around limbs into a full-blown narrative, and painstakingly timed lights, as Emily reveals, “Jeff thought of the idea for this video. In its early stages the concept was close up shots of limbs doing peculiar things at different angles, e.g. a pair of hands tidying with a dustpan and shovel. Then Jeff suggested that I act as a cautious hotel manager who sees unusual limbs in rooms with eerie lighting. We both liked there being unity at the end point of the video. The video was so much fun to make! We were a team of six filming the video at St George’s Inn in Thornbury over two nights. It was all very thoughtfully planned, however there were some last-minute changes with the crew, which gave it a very spontaneous feeling! The lighting setup was extensive, thanks to Mike Ridley. We were able to sync the lighting with the rhythm of the song”.

A lover of busy cities, the creative process, Gustav Klimt and the colour red, Emily’s enchanting flair as an artist ultimately stems from her love for life and a constant pursuit to challenge herself, and Humming Heart is a sublime and elegant addition to her ever-evolving journey.

  1. Charli XCX: I heard Charli XCX’s CRASH and it sounded like an album you felt like you already knew even when listening for the first time! There is a three dimensional-ness to Charli’s production and visuals which feels so engaging and present. Her melodies and lyrics are so unique to her. I am yet to see the film about her connecting and collaborating with her fans throughout Covid. It sounds really interesting!!
  2. Sofia Portanet: A newer discovery . . however Sofiat has charmed me with her pop melodies and strong female vocals. She has released a selection of material now which shows strong songwriting talent. She is a German based artist who sings in multiple languages including French and English. Her visuals and stage presence is striking. With her music featured in Times Square and touring extensively throughout Europe . . there are exciting things are to come for Sofia!!
  3. Kate Bush: Kate Bush has this capacity to create a world around what she does like no other. Her songwriting, multidimensional arts approach, visions for arranging and visual presentation is incredibly inspiring . . My favourite lyric of hers is the opening verse of Full House from the album Lionheart which describes her seeing herself outside from the interior of a car. I also admire Kate’s determination to work with Lindsey Kemp, a mime artist also renowned for his work with Bowie.
  4. Caroline Polachek: Caroline first appeared on one of my Instagram stories. I was intrigued and explored her music video for Billions and loved the layers of thought that had gone into the video which to this day, I don’t think I understand!! I am blown away by Caroline’s presence when she performs on stage and the production of her work. She has an impressive soprano voice, studies opera and knows a lot about Greek literature. The breadth of her exploration and curiosity, evident in her art, is what inspires me most about her!
  5. Hatchie: Hatchie is a Brisbane based artist who I fell in love with when I heard her song ‘This Enchanted’ and also noticed that she had collaborated with some of the Cocteau Twins members. She is extraordinarily talented at writing catchy hooks and playing engaging sets that are very dancy!! She released an album, Stop Giving the World Away this year and the response has been very positive! I look forward to hearing her ideas continue to evolve .
