Get set to revisit where it all began for iconic Aussie rockers The Butterfly Effect, with the quartet today announcing a massive regional run in 2025, celebrating 21 years since the release of their seminal debut album Begins Here. By popular demand off the back of their hugely successful 2024 capital city 20 Years Of Begins Here national tour, and with destinations voted by the fans themselves, The Butterfly Effect’s 21 Years Of Begins Here 2025 regional tour will span 25 dates around the country from late January through to March, with the quartet returning to new and familiar stages playing Begins Here in its entirety – and beyond!

“For this tour, we basically threw it open to the fans to tell us where they wanted us to play!” shares drummer Ben Hall. “We put most of the suggestions into a voting form, the punters voted, and from there, we made the final cut. Some towns had a massive amount of interest, but unfortunately, finding a venue proved too difficult this time around. Next time, we might just bring a stage on the back of a truck!”

The 21 Years Of Begins Here regional tour in 2025 will kick off on Thursday January 30 in Cairns before journeying to Townsville, Mackay, Gladstone, Caloundra, Ipswich, the Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Gosford, Wollongong, Penrith, Dee Why, Albury, Torquay, Ferntree Gully, Frankston, Margaret River, Bunbury, Fremantle, Joondalup, Castlemaine, Mildura, Mount Gambier, and Pooraka, and closing out proceedings on Friday March 14 in Darwin.

Releasing in 2003, Begins Here immediately turned heads reaching #23 on the ARIA Charts, topping the independent charts and went on to be certified gold in 2006. Boasting enduring favourites in the form of singles Crave, Beautiful Mine, Always and One Second Of Insanity, with the latter two tracks also snagging #99 and #68 respectively on triple j’s Hottest 100 in 2004, Begins Here powerfully paved the way for The Butterfly Effect’s worldwide legacy, with international touring and high-profile festival appearances swiftly following the album’s release. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of Begins Here earlier this year with a huge national Australian tour, the chance to carry the festivities into 2025 to regional Australia, with Canberra rockers Hands Like Houses also along for the ride, is one equally exciting for the band themselves as much as it is for the fans, as vocalist Clint Boge shares, “It feels amazing to still be doing what we love and to be celebrating 21 years of our first album is very humbling. ABOUT SOFT CELL
Soft Cell, the English synth-pop duo consisting of Marc Almond and David Ball, achieved significant success in the 1980s. They are best known for their 1981 hit “Tainted Love,” which topped the charts in 17 countries and became one of the best-selling singles of the year, including Australia where it reached the Top 10 singles chart. Their debut album, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, also went platinum and included other hits like “Bedsitter” and “Say Hello, Wave Goodbye”.

In the UK, Soft Cell had twelve top 40 hits, including “Torch” (number 2), “What” (number 3), and “Bedsitter” (number 4)1. They released four top 20 albums between 1981 and 1984.

After Soft Cell initially split in 1984 Marc Almond pursued a successful solo career. He released several albums that showcased his versatility, including Marc and the Mambas, which delved into more experimental and cabaret-style music1. His collaborations with artists like Gene Pitney on the hit “Something’s Gotten Hold of My Heart” further cemented his status in the music industry.

Almond’s influence extends beyond music. His bold, androgynous image and open discussion of his sexuality have made him a significant figure in LGBTQ+ culture. His work has inspired a generation of musicians and artists who admire his fearless approach to both his music and personal expression.

Over the decades, Soft Cell have come to be known as one of the true pioneers of Brit synch-pop music. With 25 million sales, six UK top 10 singles and a BRIT Award to their name, they’ve cast a huge influence over music culture ever since the 80s, setting the synth-pop standard for Pulp, Erasure and the Pet Shop Boys to follow and inspiring the industrial scene before it exploded in the ‘90s. They have since gone on to be sampled on Rihanna’s smash ‘S.O.S.’ and laying the groundwork for the current alt-pop music scene.

GREEN DAY ANNOUNCE AUSTRALIAN LEG OF ‘THE SAVIORS TOUR’

Global rock superstars Green Day – Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool – have officially shared details of the Australian leg on their massive 2024/25 global stadium tour – The Saviors Tour, presented by Live Nation and Triple M.

Green Day shared, “We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors, a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together. And we can not wait to return to Australia, it’s been way too long. So let’s thrash.”

The tour will be a larger-than-life, career-spanning celebration of one of the biggest musical acts of all time and some of the most important albums in history. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Green Day’s 1994 certified Diamond album, Dookie, and the 20th anniversary of 2004’s juggernaut, American Idiot. Each a cultural phenomenon in its own right, these albums have remained at the forefront of punk culture since their release. With blazing guitars and electrifying vocals, Green Day are ready to bring their mind-blowing collection of hits to stadiums across the country, along with plenty of new additions from Saviors.

Brewing champions, Young Henrys, are hitting the Northern Beaches this November with best mates Volcom Australia to bring back the infamous RIP IN Weekender at Manly’s Hotel Steyne. From Friday, November 1 to Saturday, November 2, the two-day party will feature Volcom Australia’s Pro Skate Team tearing it up on the in-venue half pipe, a pop-up tattoo parlour, plenty of beer specials and DJs sets from Dune Rats, The Buoys, Haiku Hands, Fangz, Crocodylus and DOWNGIRL. Headlining Friday on the DJ decks are Australia’s adrenaline-fueled main stage players, Haiku Hands. After bringing the beat worldwide with their 2023 record Pleasure Beast and having shared the stage with Kendrick Lamar and Lizzo at New York’s Governors Ball, jam along to the fury unleashed by Australia’s most exciting dance-pop trio.

Fresh off a national tour with The Bennies and Cancer Bats, Sydney-based punk rock quintet FANGZ will bring their high-octane energy to the decks, delivering a DJ set that promises to ignite Hotel Steyne with the same ferocity as their live shows. And opening the show is the fiery four-piece femme-punk soul band DOWNGIRL DJs, Eora’s keen and proud rockers known for sharing their love of “making loud noises” and easily pumping up the dancefloor.

Shaking things up on Saturday are the rough-around-the-edges, indie alt-punk legends, Dune Rats DJs. With a discography packed with anthems like “Scott Green” and “No Plans” they’ve distilled their rebellious spirit into the mind-melting album If It Sucks, Turn It Up. Expect a rollercoaster of good times, raw truths, 90’s nostalgia and fuzzed-out pop, delivering a sizzling DJ set that’s sure to hit home.

Joining Dune Rats are high octane band, The Buoys, who carved out their name in the scene with “I Want You” and “Settle Petal”, promise to deliver a rousing DJ set. Catch the band as they hit the decks and deliver a party-fuelled set, riding the momentum of their powerful album Lustre and sold out Sydney show last month. Also on the bill are Northern Beaches locals and crocodile rockers, Crocodylus. They’ll be warming up the decks with their distinct brand of surf rock, highlighted by singles “My Baby” and “Sweaty Already”.

There will also be an epic DJ battle between pro skaters and surfers, and a lineup of guest pro skaters from Volcom Australia’s Skate Team, including Rob Pace, Rome Collyer and Olympic skater Liv Lovelace. If that’s not enough to tempt you, enjoy Young Henrys beer specials all weekend, plus a special tattoo pop-up to add some extra flair.
