JULIAN LENNON TO Release Seventh Studio Album

Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter, Julian Lennon announced two new songs today from his seventh studio album JUDE, ‘Every Little Moment’ and ‘Freedom,’ available to pre-save on all streaming platforms.JUDE will be released later this year.

The album title JUDE is a nod to the legendary song ‘Hey Jude’, by The Beatles, written by Paul McCartney to comfort 5-year-old Julian following his parents’ separation. Originally written as ‘Hey Jules’, McCartney changed ‘Jules’ to ‘Jude’ because he thought it sounded better in the song. The tune became one of the band’s most successful tracks, topping the charts for 19 weeks after its release, and remains a crowd favorite in McCartney’s live shows today. Even though he talks of having a love/hate relationship with the song because it’s a reminder of an unhappy time in his life, he’s thankful for the support expressed through the lyrics, and over the years, the song has become part of his personal identity.

“Many of these songs have been in the works for several years, so it almost feels like a coming-of-age album,” said Lennon. With great respect for the overwhelming significance of the song written for me, the title JUDE conveys the very real journey of my life that these tracks represent.”

Julian Lennon and Justin Clayton share production on the forthcoming album JUDE.

About Julian Lennon:
Julian Lennon has always felt that he has observed life differently, perhaps because his path through life has been so unusual. Nothing could be more apparent, as he reveals to the viewer his keen eye for composition and his gift for capturing an intimate moment.
Julian seeks to depict his personal journey as an artist in the midst of unique life experiences.

Born in Liverpool, England, Julian Lennon began his artistic trajectory at a young age with an inherent gift for playing musical instruments. Those abilities would soon broaden into the cinematic and visual arts. As an observer of life in all its forms, Julian developed his personal expression through such mediums as music, documentary filmmaking, philanthropy, and photography.

In 2015, through The White Feather Foundation, Lennon launched The Cynthia Lennon Scholarship for Girls, a scholarship program for girls in Kenya. Since then, the Foundation has awarded over 40 scholarships to girls throughout Africa, and in 2021 expanded the scholarship to art students in the U.S. In September 2020, Lennon was honored with the CC Forum Philanthropy Award in Monaco. That same month, he was named a UNESCO Center for Peace 2020 Cross-Cultural and Peace Crafter Award Laureate.

As an author, Lennon has published several books including the New York Times best-selling trilogy Touch the Earth, Heal the Earth, and Love the Earth, completed in 2019; and the children’s graphic novel The Morning Tribe in 2021. That same year, Lennon was also honored with the World Literacy Award for his work to promote literacy through The WFF.

BUGS Announce HEADLINE TOUR

Today the self-professed “noisy guitar pop band from Sunny QLD” Bugs have released their highly anticipated third studio album Cooties, distributed by Community Music, ahead of their 17 date Australian tour which kicks off in Newcastle on April 22.

The punchy 10-track collection features previous singles Old Youth Feeling, Diamond, Decisions, Commitments & Plans, In The Middle (Of It), and new focus track Alone Again which ties together the expansive exploration of their artistry that this record further highlights

“This is a modern lonely cowboy/cowgirl crooner classic. Itʼs all about feeling isolated and how social media can exacerbate the pain associated with being alone. It explores struggling to find the place where you fit in the world.” says lead vocalist Connor Brooker of Alone Again.

Cooties was recorded and produced by drummer Brock Weston at his home studio in Brisbane. They started by refining a batch of 30 songs during the middle of 2020, and through the continuous lockdowns they managed to record most of the final tracks. From there, Weston engineered the release from scratch, and together with his fellow bandmates was able to find a new confidence within their sound.

“I wrote most of the songs between 2019-2020 and as the obvious gems worked their way onto the final track listing the theme of the album came together. It’s all about coexisting realities, relationships in your twenties, finding your place in the world. I’ve gone through pretty drastic and destabilising change at times and I guess it’s representative of a lot of personal experiences over the last few years. Some of the songs are pretty sad, some are full of angst, others unbridled joy. It’s a polarising mix of music because life isn’t as linear as we’d often like it to be.” explains Brooker.

It’s been one wild ride for the trio so far, having already toured with the likes of Grinspoon, Mallrat, WAXX, TOWNS, Sweater Curse, and The Hard Aches as well appearing on festival line ups including Falls Festival, Yours & Owls and The Hills Are Alive. The band has also received praise from outlets such as Rolling Stone Australia, Tonedeaf, Pilerats, NME, Mixdown, Music Feeds, Pilerats, The Guardian, Spotify, and triple j.

It’s the kind of track that makes you want to stand in a crowd, and scream the lyrics out at the top of your lungs.– MUSIC FEEDS

…a band who should really be amongst your favourites– PILERATS

If you’re the type to keep your finger closely on the pulse of the Aussie music scene, then Brisbane outfit Bugs are likely one outfit that you’ve been championing for quite some time– ROLLING STONE AUSTRALIA

KEITH URBAN Shares Brand New Single ‘NIGHTFALLS’

Multiple ARIA and GRAMMY Award winner Keith Urban today unveils his first single of 2022, ‘Nightfalls’, a euphoric moonlit anthem co-written with Greg Kurstin (Beck, Paul McCartney) and Mozella (Madonna, Rhianna). Bound to be a crowd favourite at Keith’s forthcoming ‘THE SPEED OF NOW WORLD TOUR’ shows, the infectious track marks a similar return of Urban’s high-energy, in-the-moment spirit and all-round divergent musicality.

Keith says, “Writing “Nightfalls” with Greg Kurstin and Mozella was pure joy. Two summers have gone by with no way to tour and the desire to have that feeling again inspired every part of this song and recording. In a world so full of real struggles and fractures, I wanna try and bring something to help us exhale and be in the moment – if only for 3 mins and 41 seconds.”

‘Nightfalls’ follows on from ‘Wild Hearts’ and Urban’s global smash, his duet with P!nk, ‘One Too Many’, which to date has amassed 340 million worldwide streams. The song has become Urban’s 43rd Top 10 single in the U.S. and his 27th #1 in Canada. It was certified double platinum in Australia, reached #1 on the Australian Artist singles chart, and has spent 44 weeks in the Top 50 UK Airplay Chart. Urban’s latest album, THE SPEED OF NOW Part 1, marks the fourth in a historic streak of simultaneous #1 album debuts in the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Urban will re-appear on The Voice Season 11 this year in the coaches’ chair, alongside Rita Ora, Jessica Mauboy, and Guy Sebastian. Season 11 kicks off on Channel 7 and 7plus on Monday, April 18th.

THE SPEED OF NOW WORLD TOUR gets underway in April at the O2 Academy in the UK before ending up in Australia in December with Birds of Tokyo as the special guest. Please visit keithurban.com for ticketing information.

The Daily Chase share final single, “Light You Up” from forthcoming EP

The Daily Chase are back to offer up one last anthemic single, “Light You Up” before the release of ‘The Colour Of Crisis‘ EP, out next Friday, April 8.

The heavy-hitting drum and bass-inspired tune tell the story of losing a friend to the spiral of depression. This song is about tragedy, forgiveness, and friends looking out for one another. The mainline from the chorus: “A thousand suns won’t light you up” translates to the fact that not even a thousand ‘good’ days can bring this person back from the darkness.

The music video is filmed and produced by Headstrong Films and echoes the sentiments of the track using a beautifully choreographed dance scene with dancers Carter and Rohan Cummins. Videographer and drummer for The Daily Chase, Ben Heidrich, explains: “With the video for ‘Light You Up’ we wanted a story that was a direct narrative to the lyrics, but still made you feel something. All dancing in the video was performed on set to the actual ‘Light You Up’ track, which made the dance scene completely authentic and in line with the song.

Previous singles “Killjoy” and “Lotusland” teased a new sound for the band, influenced by drum and bass that builds on the band’s metal foundations. Both singles have earned plenty of triple j Unearthed love with a number of 4+ star reviews and play across multiple triple j shows. “Lotusland” featured on RAGE and was added to Unearthed rotation and Spotify picked up “Killjoy” for an add to their Homegrown + Heavy playlist.

The Daily Chase is a five-piece metal outfit from Adelaide comprised of vocalist Rory Cuthell, clean vocalist and guitarist Marc Patterson, drummer Ben Heidrich, guitarist Jake McDonald, and bassist Nic Wilks. Since their formation in 2015, the band has played countless shows across the nation and shared the stage with the likes of Escape The Fate, Make Them Suffer, Deez Nuts, Saviour, Confession, Dream On Dreamer and Turnover. The bands music has also been featured in Gold Medal X Games athlete Jackson Strong’s feature film ‘Headstrong 2’.

Having worked tirelessly over the last couple of years, the global pandemic brought time and space to the band in order to bring together their most exciting and innovative work yet. ‘The Colour of Crisis‘ delves into intense sonic landscapes and experiments with genre-bending hooks while still keeping the raw energy and heart of The Daily Chase.

With the brand new six-track EP in their arsenal, The Daily Chase are ready to take 2022 by the horns and hit the stage with a plethora of new sounds and an exciting, modernized performance to boot.

Light You Up“, “Killjoy” and “Lotusland” are available now, streaming on all platforms. ‘The Colour of Crisis‘ will be available next Friday, April 8.

CANCER BATS Release New Track “PRESSURE MIND”

Canadian hardcore punk heavyweights Cancer Bats have released a new track “Pressure Mind”. It is the third and final track to be released ahead of the band’s anticipated seventh studio album, Psychic Jailbreak on April 15, 2022, through their own label Bat Skull Records in partnership with New Damage Records and Cooking Vinyl Australia.

Lead vocalist Liam Cormier had this to say about the new track, “Sometimes you just need a release with everything going on in the world, this song is our punk rock way of blowing off some steam. Melodic verses and bridge are all about introspection and thinking about how we get ourselves in these mindsets time and time again and then the Chorus is all about LETTING IT OUT!”

Psychic Jailbreak follows 2018’s critically-acclaimed, commercially successful and Juno nominated album The Spark That Moves and is the band’s first album to be written and recorded by the current lineup of Liam Cormier (lead vocalist), Jaye Schwarzer (bass and guitar) and Mike Peters (drums), following the departure of founding member and guitarist Scott Middleton. Produced by JP Peters (Propagandhi) at his studio Private Ear Recordings in Winnipeg, MB, Psychic Jailbreak sees the beloved metal stalwarts stepping up their game once again, eagerly pushing themselves both musically and lyrically beyond what they have achieved as a band to date. A record that is destined to invigorate fans with its punishing drum patterns, memorable riffs and infectious choruses, Psychic Jailbreak is available to pre-save/order HERE.

Hermosa Beach punk rock band Pennywise have announced they will be returning down under for an Australian tour in September 2022. Pennywise will be bringing with them the legendary punk band Circle Jerks, who will be hitting Australia for the very first time. Tour details are below.

Pennywise will be performing songs from their entire catalogue including the recently CERTIFIED ARIA GOLD selling album Straight Ahead, which debuted at No. 8 on the ARIA charts (the band’s highest charting album to date).

Fletcher Dragge enthuses;
“Finally Pennywise gets to come back to our home away from home, Australia!

Where the beer flows nonstop, along with the chaos. Never a dull moment on a Pennywise tour down under… only one thing could make it better than usual, and that would be coming to town with our mentors and long-time friends THE CIRCLE JERKS!!! They are back with a vengeance!

This is gonna be an off the fucking hook nonstop party! And we can’t wait! Get your tix, get on the booze, and get in the pit, we’re coming for you fuckers!!!!!”

Pennywise are no strangers to Australia having toured the country many times over. Most recently in 2019 on the 20th Anniversary Straight Ahead tour with sold-out shows Australia-wide.

Formed in the South Bay of Los Angeles—a neighborhood with a rich punk-rock history—Pennywise began in 1988. The band went on to amass an international following with their relentless touring and a melodic, high-energy sound fusing classic punk, surf punk, and blistering hardcore. Through the years, Pennywise have solidified their place in punk history with iconic songs like “Fuck Authority,” “Alien,” and “Bro Hymn” (their timeless ode to brotherhood and departed friends).

Pennywise has released 11 albums over the last three decades, including Pennywise (1991), Unknown Road (1993), About Time (1995), Full Circle (1997), Straight Ahead(1999), Land of the Free? (2001), From the Ashes (2003), The Fuse (2005), Reason to Believe (2008), All or Nothing (2012), and Yesterdays (2014).
