Philly based hardcore band Soul Glo have released their latest single, “Driponomics,” ahead of their fourth studio album Diaspora Problems due out on March 25th. This scathing commentary on capitalism and economic disparity is contrasted with the prevalence of hypebeast culture, listing popular designers and brands in between screeching distortion and a heavy bassline. The track also features a verse from fellow Philly native, rapper Mother Maryrose.
Soul Glo explains that “Driponomics is for everyone doing what they have to do to get by and to get fly. Oftentimes lower-income and working class people are criticised for how they survive out here, especially in times of crisis. People are getting more desperate but simultaneously more creative with their income options, and this song is a salute to that. Love to Mother Maryrose whose verse on this song is one of the best moments on our album.”
Presented in a hardcore whirlwind of justified rage, Soul Glo’s sharp lyrics are always thought provoking and politically charged, with lines like:
“Ain’t nothin’ as ugly as a balance in the red / I want bands on every politician’s head”
Fusing hip-hop, hardcore, and punk, the Philly outfit are fearless in their approach and even more ruthless in their delivery. Injecting their colourful narrative into predominantly white spaces, Soul Glo has the scope and ability to transcend outer appearances in hardcore music. With the release of Diaspora Problems, the band is not aiming for it to be the only album like it that exists, but instead one of many entries in a new dawn for rock music.

Pre-orders are available now, here.
Soul Glo is Pierce Jordan (vocals), Ruben Polo (guitar) and GG Guerra (bass, vocals, programming)

The Australian

Geelong Advertiser
‘True showmen who gave their all. They are the high-octane rocket fuel of the rock and roll world’

Fresh off their historic 3-hour rock & roll marathon for 30,000 adoring fans last Friday – the first stadium concert in Australia in two long years – Frontier Touring is thrilled to announce global rock giants Foo Fighters will return to Australia and New Zealand in November/December 2022

It will be Foo Fighters’ first headline tour of both countries since 2018.

Tickets to all cities will go on sale Thursday 10 March via frontiertouring.com/foofighters.  Sign up today to access the Frontier Members Pre-sale, which begins Tuesday 8 March (times staggered; see website for more info).

Always serving up fan favourites spanning from their 1995 debut up to their recent tenth studio, 2021’s ARIA #1 Medicine At Midnight, Foo Fighters are the world’s premiere stadium/arena attraction. Last week’s triumphant concert in Geelong was nothing short of unforgettable:

The Age
‘The show ended with a spectacular version of Everlong and Grohl on his knees, thanking the crowd as fireworks exploded over the stadium’
Rolling Stone
‘As the lights dimmed and the crowd roared, Foo Fighters appeared, feeling like a sight for sore eyes in the wake of empty stages and cancelled tours. Dave Grohl walked around the stage, staring back at the crowd as we all wordlessly exchanged the sentiment that it had been far too long’

Joining Foo Fighters as special guests in Nov/Dec are:

Sunshine Coast (QLD) ‘Smoko’ trio The Chats (Perth, Sydney + Brisbane) are one of Australia’s most exciting – and most fun – punk rock bands, with their notorious single going viral immediately upon release. They’ve toured with heavyweights Queens Of The Stone Age and Cosmic Psychos, selling out shows in AU, New Zealand, England, Scotland, and Europe.

Renowned for a ball-tearing live show, Amyl and The Sniffers (Wellington + Auckland) won an ARIA Award for ‘Best Rock Album’ last year, capping off a wild 12 months for the lunatic, likeable punks. Their 2021 effort Comfort to Me debuted at #2 in Australia, #21 in the UK, and #18 in the US, and was BBC6’s Album of the Day.

Channelling Riot Grrrl-era energy with a 2021 spin, Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers (Melbourne) formed back at high school, the now 20 year-olds having cut their teeth with sets at Groovin’ The Moo, Laneway, Falls, Lost Paradise & Spilt Milk.

Having played some of the UK’s biggest festival stages in 2021, Manchester (UK) emo power-pop dual fronted outfit Hot Milk will perform on our shores for the very first time when they head down our way with the Foos’ (Melbourne, Brisbane + Sydney).

After taking out the triple j unearthed high crown in 2020, Adelaide two-piece Teenage Joans (Perth) have gone from strength to strength, sharing stages with acts such as Violent Soho, Ruby Fields, Clowns, Amy Shark and more.

Dick Move (Wellington + Auckland) are infamous already for their pumping live shows, their catalogue of blink-and-you’ll-miss-it punk anthems cutting, confronting, empowering and dripping with brash cheekiness and political angst.

These will be the biggest rock shows of 2022. Act quickly to secure your tickets… dates will sell out, don’t miss out!

Foo Fighters are Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee.

Interview with Rich Webb

We all have some skeletons in the closet, but Nikki Sixx has a whole graveyard hiding in his. The First 21 takes you through one bag of bones at a time in a very candid journey through his life. His honesty is to be commended, and I felt his pain on many occasions, as he unfurled his childhood demons and his life living as Frankie Ferrana Jnr.

UK Legends UB40 have set their sights on Australia for October 2022!

The UK’s most successful Reggae band, UB40 have announced that their eagerly anticipated return to Australia will officially take place this October!

Originally set to tour Australia in October 2020 as part of their 40th anniversary, and to perform hits from their latest releases ‘For The Many’ ‘Bigga Baggariddim’, the reggae pioneers will finally grace the shores of Australia this year, with huge shows planned for the Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

Despite the many unknowns in international touring, UB40 have stayed aggressively optimistic over the past 24 months, taking the time to perfect their brand new live show, just for Aussie audiences.

We always look forward to trips down under. Said the band in a statement today It’s one of our favourite places in the world to perform, but with so many uncertainties in the world these past two years, we felt it was far more important to focus on everyone’s safety. Now that borders have reopened, we’re finally ready to get back to Australia and perform the show fans have been waiting for!”

For those lucky enough to score passes to the band’s Australian tour, tickets will still remain valid for all upcoming shows.

Having previously sold out their 2015, 2017 and 2018 tours, the band
return to Australia with plans for a more extensive tour hitting Sunshine Coast and The Gold Coast, as well as the more usual Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth

The ‘40th Anniversary For The Many Tour’ will offer audiences a taste of classic hits like ‘
Food for Thought’, ‘1 in 10’, ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘Kingston Town’ and ‘Can’t Help falling In Love With You’, as well as tracks from the latest releases ‘For The Many’ and ‘Bigga Baggariddim’ which will be performed live in Australia for the first time.

One of the UK biggest exports UB40 have achieved over forty top 40 hits in their native Britain with international sales of over
100 million records, the band are one of the biggest UK music acts of all time, and continue to record charting albums while touring across the world including regular trips to Australia where they have firmly found a place in the hearts of fans.

After four decades of success including their hit singles, international stadium tours and festival headline slots, the band suffered the devastating loss of founder member, lyricist and lead sax player Brian Travers who lost his long battle with cancer in 2021. Although “There is a giant Brian shaped hole that can never be filled”, they continue with the surviving key founding members and songwriting core, staying true to and building on the legacy and ethos of the band.

UB40 are founder members Robin Campbell (vocals and guitar), Earl Falconer (bass, vocal), Jimmy Brown (drums) and Norman Hassan (percussion, vocals) with new lead vocalist Matt Doyle. The band also features Martin Meredith (sax) and Laurence Parry (trumpet), who have both been in UB40’s touring and recording line-up for over twenty years, Tony Mullings (keyboards) and Ian Thompson (sax) creating a genre-defining synergy of horns and rhythm section that are uniquely UB40.

BLEED FROM WITHIN Announce New Album SHRINE + Drop New Single/Video ‘Levitate’

BLEED FROM WITHIN Announce New Album SHRINE + Drop New Single/Video 'Levitate'

“Rise above oneself and grasp the world…” – Archimedes

Scottish fire-brands BLEED FROM WITHIN is embarking on the most extraordinary year of their career. Ascending above a multitude of challenges that the past few years have spewed up, the band is elated to reveal the foremost details of their new studio album. The record, auspiciously named 'Shrine', will be released on June 3rd, 2022. Available for pre-order now.

Launching proceedings is soaring new track 'Levitate', accompanied by a stunning video. An erudite masterclass in modern metal, 'Levitate' affirms BLEED FROM WITHIN's infinite talent – asserting their importance in modern heavy music, laying the pathway to echelons anew.

“’Shrine’ is the sonic embodiment of the dedication to our craft, representing everything that we’ve been through to stand where we are today. By far our most challenging album to complete, ‘Shrine’ is a testament to our resilience. It is clear recognition of what we’ve been able to accomplish so far, but also a taste of our potential as we continue this journey.

As we fought through the writing process, we were continually fueled by society's darkest moments. The lies. The inequality. The violence. We just couldn’t comprehend it. Ultimately, ‘Shrine’ was our outlet for the anger that we felt as we bore witness to the chaos. It listened as lockdowns tested our resolve, and gave us a reason to get out of our beds in the morning.

We are never finished. We are in a constant state of self-improvement as the band continues, so up until this point, we can honestly say that ‘Shrine’ is truly our finest work. It is everything we’ve ever wanted to accomplish as a band, and it has inspired us beyond belief. We start this campaign knowing that this is our greatest accomplishment, our proudest moment, and soon to be our biggest album. For all those that continue to support us, this is for you. This is ‘Shrine’.”

Mixing was handled by Adam 'Nolly' Getgood and Sebastian Sendon, with engineering handled by Adam 'Nolly' Getgood and Bleed From Within. The'Shrine'artwork was created by David Provan, with layout by Simon Atkinson.

BLEED FROM WITHIN have been to hell and back, but they are no strangers to enduring hardship. When a global pandemic threatened to shut down their plans, the Glaswegians collectively raised five middle fingers and pressed on. It’s no surprise that this unstoppable riff machine continues to crush forward at such a frantic pace – there's no putting the breaks on the heaviest band to ever emerge from Scotland.

The band’s reputation as one of the most formidable forces in modern metal has earned them tour slots with Megadeth, Lamb Of God, Testament and Heaven Shall Burn, to name just a few. 2021 saw them dominate the UK live scene; selling out their largest ever headline tour in November, capturing hearts on Bullet For My Valentine’s arena tour, slay a Lamb Of God Livestream support slot, alongside (literally) blazing performances at Download Festival and Bloodstock Festival.

‘Shrine’ has taken the most graft to put together of any record in their catalogue, challenging their self-perception on both personal and technical levels – the culmination of two years hard work that embodies their artistic might. Armed with the learnings of evolving their sound over the last decade without ever losing sight of their DIY roots, this is BLEED FROM WITHIN at their very best. There’s no denying the band’s inevitable next steps are world domination, with 'Shrine' a turning point moment.

Scott Kennedy – Vocals
Craig Gowans – Guitar
Steven Jones – Guitar
David Provan – Bass
Ali Richardson – Drums

MONOLITH FESTIVAL will forge ahead in August/September 2022.

Today, Destroy All Lines is announcing that the festival’s dates have had to be re-scheduled.

Destroy All Lines issued this statement: “The move of the festival dates is due to Western Australian borders and capacity limits in certain cities. Whilst a lot of these limits and rules have now become more relaxed, factors such as council approvals for festival sites, production, vendors and more, have to be booked well in advance during a very uncertain period, meaning that in order to be certain these events went ahead, the dates had to be pushed back. This means a new venue in Melbourne, but we are very excited about running the show at Port Melbourne Industrial Centre for the Arts (PICA), and we are also super stoked that all artists have been confirmed for the new dates. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but we are very excited and proud to be able to be bringing this almost once-in-a-lifetime festival line-up to Australian audiences in 2022!

The festival line-up remains the same, but now will take place in August 2022 – Saturday 13 August at Eaton’s Hill Outdoors in Brisbane, Saturday 20 August at Bella Vista Farm in Sydney, Saturday 27 August at PICA (Port Melbourne Industrial Centre for the Arts), Melbourne and Saturday 17th September at Red Hill Auditorium, Perth. All dates are outdoor venues and all Existing Tickets remain valid, no action required. General tickets are on sale now at destroyalllines.com.

There are no prizes for guessing why there was palpable excitement about Monolith Festival when it was announced in late 2021. It will be the very first time in SEVENTEEN YEARS that Aussie Rock legends Karnivool and COG will tour together on the same line-up!

Heading up the line-up is Karnivool – with their acclaimed debut, Themata, the groundbreaking follow-up, Sound Awake, and the Aria winning #1 album Asymmetry, Karnivool has established themselves as one of the most vital global forces in progressive modern music. Karnivool has gained high praise from international press titans such as Rolling Stone, Billboard Magazine, Kerrang! and Rocksound. A rare sight to see them on a festival line-up, it’s even more special when it has them reuniting for the first time in 17 years with long-time musical brothers, COG!

Since their return in 2016 after their critically acclaimed albums The New Normal and Sharing Space and subsequent 5-year hiatus, COG has been immersing themselves in their craft with renewed vigor, already having a plethora of new ideas and structures from which to draw new material. Since they released 'The Middle' in 2018 – the first new material released by COG in ten years and 'Altered States' and 'Drawn Together' followed, each song providing further proof that although Cog had lost NONE of their firepower.

Rounding out the seven-band line-up is the enigmatic/eccentric Ocean Grove, the guitar mastery and groove-laden riffs of Plini, the post-rock power and majesty of sleepmakeswaves, the outright force of nature that is Reliqa, and the up-and-coming instrumentalists Yomi Ship opening up proceedings.

MONOLITH FESTIVAL tickets are on sale now at destroyalllines.com. All current ticket holders' tickets remain valid, no action is required.

HARDCORE SUPERSTAR Announce New Album ABRAKADABRA – Due Out March 25th

Abrakadabra is the upcoming album from Gothenburg’s leading exponents of street metal, HARDCORE SUPERSTAR! The follow up to 2018’s critically acclaimed You Can't Kill My Rock 'N' Roll, Abrakadabrawill be released physically and digitally via Golden Robot Records (for USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South America only) on March 25th, and is available to pre-order on digital and CD now.

HARDCORE SUPERSTAR has recently released five alcohol-fuelled, riff-laden singles. ‘Catch Me If You Can’, ‘Dreams In Red’, ‘Weep When You Die’ and ‘Forever and a Day’, and their latest, ‘Fighter’, now available on all digital platforms. All 5 tracks give a deep insight into the brilliance of Abrakadabra, which may just be HARDCORE SUPERSTAR’s best album to date.

Containing 10 hard-hitting songs exploding with riffs, attitude, intensity, and that magical feeling you get when your work is over and the weekend is here, Abrakadabra is an album for the fans and best shared with great friends, cold beers and very loudspeakers!

Recorded in 2020 and 2021 at both Österlyckan and Bombastik in Musikens Hus – Gothenburg, the decision was made early on to once again work with Johan Reiven, who was responsible for production duties on the bands ‘Black Album’. Adde states, “Working with Johan was like stepping back in time, there’s a shared intensity and commitment to excel that collectively drives us and ultimately brings out the best in us all…I am 100% happy with the result.”

This shared intensity can be heard on every one of the tracks from the defiantly rebellious ‘Dreams in Red’ through to the bar-soaked philosophy of ‘One For All’ and the thundering powerhouse that is ‘Catch Me If You Can’.

Abrakadabra is uncomplicated, rock n’ roll escapism and entertainment at its best…sprinkled with a little bit of magic for good measure.

The success and acclaim of You Can’t Kill My Rock 'N' Roll inspired the band significantly and writing for Abrakadabra enthusiastically started whilst out on tour. Connecting with so many fans, old and new helped to influence the shape and sound of the new record, with drummer Adde commenting that the new album, “feels like the record we should have released after the Black album”.
