The world’s premiere rock and metal event is set to hit Australia for the first time with a tsunami of international and local acts flooding Melbourne this coming March. Fifteen mammoth years in Donington UK, the spiritual home of rock, two years complete in Paris France, one year in Madrid Spain, and now… we are beyond stoked to be rolling out the welcome mat for Download Melbourne 2018.
News that is sure to slap a smile across the face of heavy music fans across the country, pure rock fury is set to burn through Flemington Racecourse this Autumn, twenty-eight bands, across four stages, in one day! Ice cold beer, great food and an endless crew of heavy music fans!
“It is a great honour and very exciting that we are bringing Download Festival to Australia. Since the inception of Download UK in 2003, we have been looking for other territories to launch the festival and having successfully found a home for Download in France and Spain, we felt that the next country had to be Australia. Many rock fans from Australia have been in contact with us asking us to bring the festival to them – we have finally heard their calling and I cannot wait to put Download Australia on the map!” Andy Copping Download Founder
“When it comes to festivals, heavy music fans have had little option of late, with Download recently expanding from its Donington stronghold, into Paris and Madrid, it seems like the perfect time for it to storm down here. Starting with a single day event in Melbourne with the intention to grow it at a sustainable pace over the coming years, to a nationally touring festival for the long term. We have 28 bands in total, 1/3 of those are Australian. We are really excited to have the Australian artists on the line up for Download Melbourne, Oz heavy acts are drawing a lot of people both here and overseas so we are happy to be able to showcase that strength.” Nigel Melder Download Melbourne Producer

Post-hardcore pioneers, THURSDAY announce they’re coming out of retirement with their first run of shows in Australia since 2012. Officially reforming in 2016, they’ll bring the tour to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide in March 2018. Joining them on all dates is influential New York City post-hardcore legends, QUICKSAND.
Tickets for all shows go on sale at midday this Friday, October 13.
My Live Nation members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale beginning at 10am tomorrow, October 11.
Revered for their anguished lyrics, chiming guitars and explosive stage presence, Thursday have been a household name among punk and rock fans since their debut release, Waiting, 18 years ago. Coming out of New Jersey in 1999 at the precipice of the post-punk movement, Thursday were quick to gain the attention of fans and labels with their raw, emotive sound. However, it wasn’t until their 2001 album, Full Collapse, that they fully defined a genre.
Over the course of their active years, Thursday produced six eclectic albums. None were more representative of their distinctive sound than 2003’s War All The Time. Armed with the backing of major label, Island Records, the album continued to elevate them as one of the most complex and exciting bands of the decade. After pioneering the post-hardcore genre, the band officially disbanded in 2013.
Emerging from the New York City hardcore scene of the 90’s, QUICKSAND delivered a masterclass over two albums on what would be a stylistic blueprint for many bands to follow. They will release Interiors this November, which many attribute as their best album to date. It arrives deliberately unannounced, two decades after the pioneering post-hardcore quartet’s last album. Made completely on the band’s own terms, Interiors has a power, strength and subtlety that will likely stun you. There are no wasted notes, no flab, and no excess whatsoever. It is absolutely perfect.
Catch these two genre-defining acts together this March!

Australian music company UNIFIED has relaunched as UNIFIED Music Group. The company has reorganised and relaunched its business and brand this week, clearly explaining to industry and consumers its standing as a four pillar business that exists to provide services across the music business. Alongside the rebrand, UNIFIED has opened its new Melbourne head office, and announced a series of staff promotions to facilitate its ever expanding business.
Launched at the start of 2011, UNIFIED has been one of the fastest growing companies in the Australian music industry. It was founded by Jaddan Comerford, with the concept of creating a business with four major pillars that all work to improve the lives of artists. The four pillars, as they exist in 2017, are Artist Management, Recorded Music, Touring & Events and Merchandise. The heart of the business has always been respect for the three way relationship between the company, the community and, of course, the clients, who still remain at the centre of all things UNIFIED.
“Looking back at our original statement of intent, none of what we believe has changed,” says Comerford, “but we’ve grown and expanded in such amazing ways that it was time for us to refresh the way we organise our divisions.
“We exist as a company focussed on building careers. Whether this is for a client or a team member that is why I get out of bed in the morning. So in order to do this, we need to be organised, and we need to be very clear about what we are doing and how we are doing it.”
The UNIFIED relaunch will see the business structured via the four pillars which are summarised below:
UNIFIED ARTIST MANAGEMENT
UAM is one of Australia’s leading management companies, with a diverse roster of artists achieving success on a truly global scale, including Amy Shark, Illy, In Hearts Wake, Nina Las Vegas, Northlane, The Amity Affliction, Vance Joy and Violent Soho to name a few.
UNIFIED RECORDED MUSIC
UNIFIED owns and operates four record labels, each with an independent mindset and a vision to create the greatest exposure possible for our artists. Launching in 2011 with flagship heavy music label UNFD, the recorded music division has now expanded to include ONETWO, NLV Records and Exist. Recordings – all labels started in conjunction with management clients. In addition to this, UNIFIED provides label services for US-based independent giant Hopeless Records, and REMI &Sensible J-owned label House Of Beige. In 2016, UNIFIED launched 1825 Records in partnership with Atlantic Records and Matt Emsell.
Under this pillar also operates the impressive UNIFIED Music Publishing. A sleeping giant who recently re-upped with Mushroom Music Publishing, and has been a regular award winner at the annual APRA Awards in Australia.
UNIFIED TOURING AND EVENTS
In 2015, UNIFY: A Heavy Music Gathering was launched as Australia’s first camping festival catering to the heavy music community. Three sold out events later, UNIFY is a world class event bringing in acts from across the globe. In 2016, UNIFY PRESENTS, the touring arm of UNIFIED, was launched in conjunction with LIVE NATION. It has since toured artists like Bring Me The Horizon, Slipknot, A Day To Remember and Architects amongst others.
UNIFIED MERCHANDISE SERVICES
UNIFIED Merchandise Services talented team deliver on a range of innovative offerings for artists and brands. Our dedicated team focus on the consumer experience to offer world class direct to customer e-commerce, fulfilment, manufacturing, touring and online creative services ensuring that each clients vision is executed. UMS owns and operates 24Hundred and The Vinyl Store, while fulfilling orders for Sony Australia (The Music Vault), Warner Music Australia (Maniacs Online, Warner Music Australia), and STL Tones.
Launching with a team of eight people in 2011, the company has expanded to include 35 people in 2017. With offices now not only in Melbourne, but also Sydney, London and most recently, Los Angeles, where Jaddan is currently based. The Melbourne contingent, which makes up more than three quarters of the staff, recently moved into a new office space in the inner city suburb of Richmond. The space includes expanded warehouse downstairs for the Merchandise arm and extensive space upstairs for staff. Cult-favourite store 24Hundred will reopen in spring, and a new writer studio and content creation space will start construction soon.
UNIFIED Music Group Executive Team 2017
While the company’s growth has been elevated by the success of its artists, it has been the staff and leadership within its walls that have truly facilitated the expansion the company has experienced. UNIFIED is proud to announce a restructure of key staff and leadership team as follows:
Jaddan Comerford – CEO and Founder
Matthew Rogers – Chief Operating Officer
Luke Logemann – Chief Creative Officer (General Manager of Recorded Music and Touring & Events)
Rachael Comerford – Co-Owner and General Manager, Business Development

Graham Muir – General Manager, UNIFIED Merchandise Services
Maya Janeska – General Manager, UNFD
Conrad Lloyd – General Manager, UNIFIED Label Services Ben Patashnik – UNFD Label Manager, UK and Europe

Comerford continues: “I really could not to be more to be leading this incredible team of people to achieve our vision. From very humble beginnings, I am proud to be the CEO of what I truly believe is a company looking into the future.
“With offices now on three continents, we are committed to global growth for our business and our clients. We want to be able to give everyone as many opportunities as possible to succeed and have long lasting careers.”
