The term ‘Bursting onto the Scene’ is a term thrown around way too liberally these days. That is unless you’re talking about indie rock sensations; THE HUNNA.
Within the space of 12 months, they have gone from playing to rooms of 150 people, to touring with The 1975, with their current UK tour selling out 5,000 capacity shows.
Having also been likened to Catfish and the Bottlemen, THE HUNNA cause a stir wherever they go and now Australia gets to witness the phenomenon for the first time this January. Their debut album is wildly energetic and fun-loving with captivating lyrics and massive, explosive choruses.
Joining THE HUNNA will be label mates COASTS who will also be touring Australia for the very first time. In a world where chaos and hate seem to reign supreme and dominate news cycles, COASTS have the ability to make you feel as if their music is a warm cocoon to hide out in. Their upbeat indie rock has drawn comparisons from Two Door Cinema Club to Phoenix. With recent performances at Coachella, Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds and Lollapalooza, COASTS are primed to inject some fun into Summer 2018!

Alabama native, YELAWOLF announces his return to our shores this December. After a hugely successful tour in 2015, the hip-hop extraordinaire is back with a run of shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.
Tickets for all shows go on sale 2pm (local time) this Friday, October 27.
My Live Nation members can secure tickets first during the exclusive pre-sale beginning at midday (local time) Wednesday, October 27.
Yelawolf has seen it all; from living on the streets and working on fishing boats in Alaska, to turning the heads of top industry reps with a flurry of mixtapes and inking a deal Eminem’s Shady Records. The best way to describe Yelawolf is, expect the unexpected.
Born Michael Atha, Yela’s musical swagger can be traced back to the slang and spiritualism of his small home-town in Gadsden, Alabama. His captivating experiences as a cross-country vagabond equipped him with the evocative precision of a master storyteller. The pride in his southern background are on the forefront of his mind as he takes you on a sonic joyride across sample laden guitar licks and old classic rock cuts.
After years of riding waves of underground triumph with his mixtapes, Yela found commercial success with his 2011 breakout album, Radioactive. The album was his first release under the umbrella of Shady Records and took the world by storm with his rapid-fire delivery of detail from his fascinating upbringing through a truth-telling lens. His 2015 follow-up record continued to propel him upward with Love Story peaking at number 3 on the Billboard Top 200.
His third full-length, Trial By Fire out this Friday, is one of the most hotly anticipated albums of the year. If the single ‘Punk’ featuring Travis Barker and Juicy J is anything to go by, expect more of the rustic, melodic, southern-swing hip-hop we’ve all come to love of Yelawolf.
Come along and check out the most illustrious and unique voices in hip-hop for yourself this December.

Much-loved songwriter Washington will join forces with Australia’s premiere Orchestras for a unique collaboration this September through November. Kicking off in Sydney with three back-to-back dates at the iconic Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, Washington will perform her anticipated forthcoming fourth studio album in full, accompanied by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
An exclusive show at the QPAC Concert Hall with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra as part of Brisbane Festival will follow, along with shows in Hobart and Perth with The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and The West Australian Symphony Orchestra respectively. Washington will grace the stage of the Melbourne Recital Hall to conclude the tour, joined by Victoria’s Impossible Orchestra.
“It’s an absolute life highlight to be able to work with orchestras of this calibre”, says Washington. “When considering repertoire for these shows, it was very important to me that I focus on the future and present new work. I want to look musically forward, not back. Essentially these shows are decadent, extravagant album previews for my new record, which will be out next year. It’s going to be a sumptuous, romantic art party.”
Washington is a two-time ARIA Award winner, APRA Award winner and multi-platinum selling artist. In 2009, she won the inaugural APRA|AMCOS Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition with the title track from her debut EP How To Tame Lions.
Washington’s acclaimed, anthem-filled debut record I Believe You Liar (2010) achieved platinum status, peaking at #3 on the ARIA Album Chart, and was quickly followed up by the majestic mini-album Insomnia (2011). Co-written with global superstar Sia and Adele collaborator, Sam Dixon, Washington delivered her second full-length album, There There, in 2014. The album was recorded in the UK with Washington on keys, Sam on bass, Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint) on drums and Leo Abraham (Roxy Music) on guitars.
Recently, Washington inspired the world with her honest and personal story via a captivating TEDx Talk in Sydney, Australia, which was also broadcast on the ABC’s Australian Story program and has chalked up over 2 million views online.
Washington’s late-2016 single Saint Lo, recently became her first song to reach a million plays on Spotify and is the first single from her highly anticipated forthcoming album.

Dweezil Zappa, son of the legendary Frank Zappa, is celebrating 50 years of Zappa with a series of concerts and exclusive guitar masterclasses in Australia & New Zealand in early 2018.
February sees Dweezil commence his guitar assault on our stages with a suite from the album that started it all – Freak Out – before delving into the Zappa catalogue to present fan favourites such as Apostrophe, Montana, Zombie Woof, Muffin Man, Inca Roads and Cosmik Debris; plus a selection from FZ’s hugely successful Joe’s Garage trilogy.
Sheik Yerbouti next February, 2018 as the legendary music of Frank Zappa is celebrated live on stage by the man’s prodigiously talented son Dweezil Zappa and his band The Others of Intention.
Freak Out to some of the most inventive and wildly original music ever committed to tape! Discover Who Are The Brain Police as Dweezil conducts immaculate explorations and excavations of Frank’s 50 year old debut album. Take a drive with the Muffin Man along the Inca Roads in the Orange County Lumber Truck as Dweezil digs in for a suite mined from one of Frank Zappa’s most acclaimed albums, Joe’s Garage.
Dweezil will be whippin’ up a G-Spot Tornado, as he explores everything from the deepest album cuts through to the cult favourites that have made Frank Zappa and his music such an indelible influence on our musical culture.
Before you ask Is That All There Is? Dweezil will be holding exclusive and strictly limited guitar master classes and Q&A session before each show, exploring exciting new approaches to guitar that he has employed to play his dad’s most sophisticated and challenging melodies. So you can Shut Up ‘n Play Yer Guitar, and take a step closer to mastering The Black Page, these masterclasses provide theories that destroy the boundaries that confine music creativity.
So don’t be a Zomby Woof, move like the Teen-Age Wind and grab a ticket before they are all gone, as The Son Of Shut Up and Play Yer Guitar shows you how it’s done.
Charismatic and hugely motivated Canberra rapper CITIZEN KAY has revealed details of his new LP, ‘Belly of the Beast’. Fans of big-hearted, intelligent, party-time hip hop can get it via ONETWO on August 25, in time to catch him on tour nationally with Illy and on his own headline dates.
Since dropping sunny first single ‘These Kicks‘ and announcing his signing to Illy’s ONETWO label (a joint venture with Unified Music Group), Citizen Kay has been hard at it, hiding away in the studio like a crazed word-doctor making sure his forthcoming LP is exactly as he envisioned. “A lot of time was spent choosing my words, and how I wanted things to be said.” says Kay of the writing process “I challenged myself more, as a wordsmith and poet on this album“
‘Belly of the Beast’ is a personal record, incorporating themes of introspection and reflection, as well as the fine line between ego and confidence. Taking his time with each track, Kay dug deep into his own psyche, with the firm intention of harnessing his strengths and accepting his weaknesses. Significant emphasis was put on perfecting the flow and tracklisting, resulting in a cohesive, authentic record that packs a serious punch.
Rapper, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist, Citizen Kay migrated from Ghana to Australia at six-years-old, and has made it his life’s mission to make music that blends traditional hip-hop with the soothing sounds of soul, jazz, blues and rock. This cohesive and confident new release will further entrench him as a boundary-pushing artist, continuing the run to greatness that’s seen Kay collect ARIA nominations for his Demokracy EP (2014) With the People LP (2015).
Fans of these fresh and passionate sounds can catch Citizen Kay careering through a whole host of regional areas on tour with his good pal and label mate Illy, or at his own headline club shows throughout October and November. An undeniably charming and dedicated performer, Citizen Kay has shared stages with some of the best: Ice Cube and Public Enemy, Run The Jewels, Danny Brown, Wiz Khalifa, Earl Sweatshirt, plus locals Tkay Maizda, Seth Sentry and more.
Its a rough and tumble world out there at present, but Citizen Kay’s deft rhymes and bombastic attitude are going to actively convince you that, really, we’re all going to be OK.
Give in to the ‘Belly of the Beast’ from August 25.
Selling out their first Melbourne show within hours of going on sale yesterday, West Australian psych-rockers POND have announced they will play a second Melbourne show at the Corner Hotel on Friday 22nd September. Tickets are on sale now.
The band will take in a total six dates around the country on their first national Australian headline tour since 2013, playing in Adelaide, Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane through September, with an overwhelming demand for all shows!
Fronted by the enigmatic Nick Allbrook, and comprising Jay Watson, Joe Ryan and Jamie Terry, Pond are one of Australia’s most exciting music exports.
“Pond were flawlessly loud as fuck… The ridiculous fuzz Pond projected into the crowd had an instant effect on everyone, kind of a warm fuzzy feeling, that funnily enough left you feeling grimy and dirty. In the best possible way.” – Monster Children
Released in May and produced by Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, The Weather is Pond’s seventh long-player, perfectly measured in its lurching between moods, relevant in its synth-pop/guitar-psych balance, and bang on the money in its polemical anxieties.
“Pond’s new album mixes bright synths, campy detours, and grim lyrics… It’s a document of a band knocking loudly on the door of greatness” – Pitchfork
“Pond have made a musical leap of their own, away from the 60s- and 70s-indebted sound of their earlier work and towards something more frilly-collared… this is prog, but not as we know it” – The Guardian

POND CONFIRM NATIONAL AUSTRALIAN TOUR DATES FOR SEPTEMBER
West Australian psych-rockers POND today announce they will take in national tour dates this September, beginning at Adelaide’s The Gov on Friday 15th September and continuing through Perth’s Fremantle Prison on Saturday 16th September, Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Thursday 21st September, Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Saturday 23rd September and The Triffid in Brisbane on Sunday 24th September.
Fronted by the enigmatic Nick Allbrook, and comprising Jay Watson, Joe Ryan and Jamie Terry, Pond unveil their Australian dates straight off the back of non-stop international touring; they played an extensive North American run including a stop at Coachella through April and May, followed by European and UK dates earlier this month.
“Pond’s live show is comprised of spectacular moments… The psych-pop jesters spun old and new tunes into pure entertainment gold”. – San Francisco Weekly
Pond will be joined by Sydney-based four-piece Body Type, whose recent singles ‘Ludlow’ and ‘264’ have become community radio staples. “Dreamy guitar and vocals blending beautifully. I think I have a crush. Keep ’em coming”. – Zan Rowe, triple j.
Charismatic West Australian hip-hop artist Reef Prince will open for all shows.
One of the West Coast’s most exciting exports, Pond have cut their teeth over the years touring with the likes of the Arctic Monkeys, MGMT and Flaming Lips. They have blown audiences away at some of the world’s premier music festivals including Primavera, Coachella, South by Southwest, Laneway Festival, Splendour In The Grass and more, and have sold out countless venues around the globe from New York’s Bowery Ballroom to Paris’ La Gaite Lyrique and London’s O2 Forum. Pond shares members with fellow Perth outfit Tame Impala, with frontman Nick Allbrook contributing to both acts until 2013 and Jay ‘Gum’ Watson still a member of both.
Released in May, The Weather is Pond’s seventh long-player, their own baffled, if ever madcap barometric reading of the geo-political situation (amongst others), in mind-bendingly excellent album form.
“Pond’s new album mixes bright synths, campy detours, and grim lyrics… It’s a document of a band knocking loudly on the door of greatness” – Pitchfork
“… a band at a crossroads between independence and influence, and equally in thrall to the twin eccentricities of pop and psych. Just what they’ll do next is anyone’s guess, but we’ll all be sitting here waiting with open ears and baited breath. Rarely have they sounded so good.” – The Line Of Best Fit
Produced by Kevin Parker, the album’s title track “wakes slowly with drowsy percussion and swelling synths”, said Consequence Of Sound. “As the song picks up, there’s an easygoingness to the psychedelic electronics that breezes through a sense of heaviness throughout.”
Latest single, Paint Me Silver, is a gleamingly alluring song, constructed by Jay around a pitch-shifted sample from Todd Rundgren’s ‘Utopia’, which has been described by Riot Mag as a “perfect pop song”.
Perfectly measured in its lurching between moods, relevant in its synth-pop/guitar-psych balance, and bang on the money in its polemical anxieties, The Weather is the classic killer Pond album.
