Interview with Jason Aalon Butler (The Fever 333)

THE FEVER 333 will hit our shores for an exclusive Brisbane headliner sideshow ahead of their appearance at the Download Festival 2019 in Melbourne & Sydney and Casper got to chat with frontman Jason Butler about their new release MADE AN AMERICA and what to expect at Download!

Roadrunner Records announced its signing of THE FEVER 333 back in March last year. The Los Angeles-based trio’s debut EP, MADE AN AMERICA, is available now via Roadrunner Records/333 Wreckords Crew – https://MANIACS.lnk.to/MadeAnAmerica

Comprised of vocalist Jason Aalon Butler [ex-letlive.], drummer Aric Improta [Night Verses], and guitarist Stephen Harrison [ex-The Chariot], THE FEVER 333 are explicitly devoted to a revolutionary cause, delivering aggressive advocacy through a molotov cocktail of punk, hip-hop, and thrash. MADE AN AMERICA exhibits THE FEVER 333’s revolutionary activism, with a focus on community, charity, and change.

“The movement is much greater than the music,” says Butler. “The art is only a contingent piece. We want to make sure we’re just as involved in the activism and actual activation. By no means do we expect other artists to take on this task. Most of the people who made big improvements were either assassinated or just called crazy. We make it ostensibly clear that everything we do is in an active effort for change. It’s about bringing back that socio-political mindfulness. We’re trying to write the soundtrack to the revolution that we know is about to happen.”

In the midst of America’s 2017 socio-political upheaval a self-described “bi-racial double agent who’s got a black father and a white mother” – could feel the weight of the divisions. Jason Aalon Butler (ex-letlive) after meeting Travis Barker of blink-182 by chance, he spent the Super Bowl Sunday with the iconic drummer and mutual friend/producer John Feldman. That day, this unholy triumvirate’s conversation inspired the songs that would eventually comprise Fever 333’s 2018 debut. Comprised of vocalist Jason Aalon Butler, drummer Aric Improta (Night Verses) and guitarist Stephen Harrison (ex-The Chariot), the Los Angeles trio lock and load gnashing guitars, guttural beats and brazenly bold bars of a hard-hitting hybrid made up of hip-hop, punk and activism.

Channeling the art of discord, Butler’s creation of something a little dangerous and also subservice; musically and in ethos, every element makes a statement – even the lineup. First making their live debut on July 4, 2017, Fever 333 hijacked the parking lot of infamous L.A. staple, Randy’s Donuts – making their declaration of independence loud and clear.

Bringing their energy and enthusiasm for change to Australia, Fever 333’s local debut will start in Brisbane on Friday March 8 at The Brightside – before heading on to play Download Festival in both Sydney and Melbourne pouring out a radical, left-leaning and unapologetic belief for change through emotionally and politically charged sonic genius.
