Interview with Blaine Cartright (Nashville Pussy)

Atlanta Georgia Southern Rock n’ Roll legends NASHVILLE PUSSY are set to blaze a trail through Australia and New Zealand in May 2017.

Lauren had a great chat with Blair Cartright regarding what to expect from this tour downunder.

G’Day, Lauren from Silver Tiger Media here, thank you for taking the time out to have a chat today.

Blaine: My pleasure! I’m riding in the van in Southern California. Not doing much except waiting to stop for a cheeseburger.

Your Australian tour kicks off in May. What is the thought process and the planning you put in as a band to prepare yourselves both mentality and physically to get in that right mind frame of being on tour and in a different country?

Blaine: We’re in different countries all the time. The plane ride is just longer.  We’re just making sure the band is really tight and aggressive. So we’re on a warm up your right now on the West Coast. By the time y’all see us, we’re gonna be smoking! We’re trying to make rock n’ roll dangerous again!

Is there a particular type of place that you didn’t get the chance to see on your last tour in Australia that you would like to see this time around?

Blaine: I didn’t get to see crap last time. Everyone else went to the beach. I was sick and stayed at the hotel. So, I’m looking forward to seeing whatever I can. We did see a Status Quo concert last time. That was a highlight.

How do you decide what goes on your set list at the shows, is there a particular reason that you chose some of these songs and if so what is it?

Blaine: We’re playing a lot from Up The Dosage. Everything sounds really BIG right now. It’s an exciting time to be in or around Nashville Pussy.

How’s life treating you guys at the moment any new music in the works?

Blaine: Yes! Life is really good right now, suspiciously so! Got about half a record written. Looking forward to writhing the rest. I recently tweeted that the upcoming record will sound like “THE SEX PISTOLS RECORDING PHYSICAL GRAFFITI”. That quote then got picked up by BRAVE WORDS AND BLOODY KNUCKLES magazine. So we have our work cut out for us! We’re booked to record in Kentucky in September with Daniel Rey (RAMONES) returning as producer. It’s going to be fucking fun.

What changes have happened to Nashville Pussy since the start to where you guys are now?

Blaine: We’re better now! We’ve barely aged too. Not sure what it is but we still look the same after 20 years. But nothing really changes in our Rock n’ Roll fantasy.

What are some proud moments you have had while being on tour? Or even in general as a band?

Blaine: I’m really proud of our gigs with MOTORHEAD! We played about 150 shows with them over the years and lived to tell about it. We’re also proud of our GRAMMY nomination. But more proud of the MOTORHEAD shows.

What is one of the craziest things that have happened to you since being in the band?

Blaine: One time we opened for Slayer in Scotland and someone threw a cup of vomit at us.

You guys are a band that like to party what’s your favourite city in the world that allows you guys to just let loose and enjoy yourselves the most?

Blaine: We usually say Barcelona. But I’m tired of repeating that. Let’s just say the upcoming Australia/New Zealand tour will be blast. And we’re looking for a new favourite party city!  Will your’s be the one? Come on and rise to the occasion everyone!
