Revellers in rock n roll majesty prepare yourselves to have your world rocked in the most magnificent way by none other than The Dead Daisies.
With the world shocked daily by dreadful acts of violence and horror, The Dead Daisies take a turn of phrase typically reserved for the world of modern weaponry and aim them to that most magnificent medium of solidarity, community and celebration, namely rock n roll.
With admirers the world over poised to gleefully receive the bands fifth album on August 23, 2019 via Spitfire Music and SPV, a vast army of new avid fans is sure to join in mass celebration of this truly astonishing album of covers.
And little wonder that a band of such living legends should release an album of cover songs as an ode to a few of their favourites, just as is done as a matter of tradition with each prior offering, but this is the first that consists entirely of classics penned by legends past. As the first track from the collection Midnight Moses erupts from the speakers, the real appeal of this brilliant release leaps to the fore. These magnificent musicians and their own rock heritage brig such sweet appeal to these tracks offered anew, via each protagonists wealth of musical genius. After all, this track originally penned by Alex Harvey and performed by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band was previously released by The Dead Daisies as a cover on their 2015 offering Revolución.
So for the few who may not know, lets have a glimpse into the rockers assembled and exactly what sort of true legends are giving a tip of the cap to those who played these killer tracks before. Dare I say their heroes? just few of the people whose music provided the inspiration for each of our dead daisies to strive to the greatness they each have personally achieved.
Mr David Lowy, rhythm guitar from 2012 to today. David Lowy…the man with the plan. David and his family, along with their vastly significant achievements are extremely well known within the business community and despite also being an avid aviator, neither pursuit have quelled his thirst for moments of musical magnificence. Having recorded with Mink and Doc Neesons Angels previously, David’s passion for music led him to the act of pure genius, to form The Dead Daisies in 2013. With his business prowess allowing an often remote, but always firm hand on the rudder of his investment interests, along with the ability to fly the band all over the world personally, David has led the group of legends and sensational protagonists, through various manifestations to their 5th album and the brilliant current line-up. What an incredible life and so much joy he has brought to us all over the world, though I must reflect that that same joy is returned to him ten fold at the celebration of every live performance.
Mr John Corabi whose amazing rock voice has echoed forth from stage front and recording alike with The Scream, Angora, Union, Motley Crue and The Eric Singer Project to name a few, and his wealth of musical experience comes pounding through each track on this collections, giving a true insight into what the original artists have meant to him. John has been contributing via acoustic guitar and thrilling with his vocal skill since 2015.
Mr Marco Mendoza who’s relentless dedication to fans of music have seen him blasting bass and vocals from his own latest collection in Viva La Rock all over the world in endless touring but his own skill stems from decades of performing with the Alias, Never Say Never, Whitesnake, Black Star Riders and the legendary Thin Lizzy. Marco has worked alongside too many to list here and his reputation as the archetypical rock legend resounds with fans all over the world, with regular tours and appearances always being widely celebrated, he is adored by loyal fans. Marco played with The dead daisies in 2013 and has remained the bassist from 2014 to today.
Mr Doug Aldrich brought his amazing Golden guitar prowess to the band in 2016 and besides being prior bandmates with Marco in Whitesnake, his amazing musical suite skills culminates from touring the world over with the likes of Glenn Hughes, regularly Raiding The Rock Vault, playing with band such as Dio, Lion, Hurricane, House of Lords, Bad Moon Rising and co-founding the bands Revolution Saints and Burning Rain. With that incredible accumulation of rock heritage being delivered to the dead daisies via lead guitar in 2016, the band reached new heights of collective brilliance.
The magnificent Brian Tichy left The Dead Daisies in 2017 to peruse alternative endeavours and as this is piece is typed, Brian is preparing to launch his latest musical venture upon the world with band mates Brian Shoulder and Daniel Spree as Silverthrone, but his departure from The Dead Daisies was a sad day indeed for so many. I indeed harboured personal hopes of who could possibly fill the drum stool slot and the accompanying lofty expectations of fans and despite a few pleas and moments of begging, the band kept schtum. That is until the rumours were confirmed and my personal hopes being satisfied, the announcement that Mr Deen Castronovo, bandmate of Doug in Revolution Saints, was to take to the kit. Having had the pleasure of speaking with Deen quite regularly post release of Revolution Saints self titled debut and the subsequent release Light In The dark, I do not believe there could be a more perfect and fitting person to take over the percussive benchmark set by Brian, and charge the band to new levels of magnificence from the kit. As the archetypical phoenix rising strong from the ashes of destruction more than once in his life, Deen remains a source of vibrant and inherently infections inspiration to so many the world over and musically his experience stems from first spot at sixteen running with Wild Dogs and then continuing on to work with Ozzy Osbourne, Steve Vai, Bad English, Paul Rodgers, Geezer Butler’s GZR, Hardline, and most famously with Journey. Having endured trails and tribulations, along with ill-deserved public ridiculing stemming from personal affairs, Deen continues to stack that huge grin in front of adversity as an immovable force and wring ever once of good out of life through music and family. Now, we fans, as the beneficiaries of his most awesome work with The Dead Daisies, continue to revel with Deen in his glory years as a percussive powerhouse and the best Deen he can be, on this most recent in a long list of collaborations and recordings.
With such an list of magnificent musical magicians, each seldom satisfactorily celebrated in their own brilliant right but deserving of awe and reverent rock revelry, all are presented on this outstanding ode to performers past. But not just performers, bands, writers and influences past, this recording contains some of the most exciting moments with past contributors to The dead Daisies dynamic journey. On this recording you will hear contributions from Jackie Barnes, Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed and Jon Stevens. The brilliant Brian Tichy is also included on select tracks.
Here’s a tantalising teaser, a mere tasty morsel of what awaits you. Just one of the texts that accompanies each song within the CD notes.
HELTER SKELTER Originally released by The Beatles on The White Album (1968)
Where would we all be without The Beatles? All the music we love owes a lot to these four guys from Liverpool. And they rocked mightily as well! Paul McCartney really brought the noise on this one and set a template for a lot of Hard Rock that came later. We have been playing “Helter Skelter” since the inception of the band and included it on our “Face I Love” EP with Jon Stevens on vocals. And its still in the set on a regular basis. Do you like it? We do!
So turn the volume up to maximum, read up on the notes to understand the significance and brace yourself. These recordings are absolutely astounding and every once of excitement that is typical of a live performance from The Dead Daisies, translates through your speakers via the tracks recorded live.
Here’s the amazing setlist that will take your breath away. The notes contained within the cd package provide a more historical record of the songs and their inclusion in the annals of Dead Daisies history.
