See the Light

Anyone that has been following the mystical career of Ghost has seen and heard how they are a force to be reckoned with in the music world. Big music, big production and big impact on media with public sackings of the previous singers and that they will pretty much summon the devil and convert everyone into becoming acolytes in this new religion with their incredible music.
The reign of Papa Emeritus III has ended and we now welcome Cardinal Copia to lead the upcoming sermon. The ending of the Meliora album cycle brought the band to a new Dark Age, and with it comes new topical content such as Faith, the end of the world and our good friend, Death.
Prequelle is more about Faith than the usual Satan worship, the change is only in lyrical content, the music is still the same big Ghost sound to which all fans have come to know and love. The album has its slow numbers to which they emit their mystical and ominous melodies, but it also has its rockers so that they can show off some catchy and groove laden riffage.
All the albums so far have had an overall theme, whether it be the coming of the devil or the way that humanity worships or deal with religions today. This album too speaks of the deeper meanings behind all religions and specifically dealing faith and seeing it as a disease. Using the imagery of the rats and the black plague as faith infecting humanity gives the listener some deeper questions of how they see our world and what faith and has done to it.
10 songs on this dark compendium gives us 3 instrumentals, one of which really stuck out to myself ‘Miasma’. The end half has a bass line that drives the song home and a saxophone solo that just gives the song a different twist, its brilliant. We have seen the release of two video clips, ‘Rats’ and ‘Dance Macabre’ which are two of the catchiest songs on the album. ‘Pro Memoria’ is a nice little reminder that life is short, and death comes for us all. Just like previous Ghost albums, Prequelle will have you singing and dancing along in no time at all.
Cardinal Copia will come and bewitch each country as he goes, with a new face fronting the bad and new songs to get stuck in our heads it won’t be long till we see it come to life on stages around the world. Ghost is only going to get bigger from this album and I can only imagine the show will grow with them.
