To round a huge year for Brisbane five piece The Belligerents, the band have shared a live video for album single ‘Yes Man’. Filmed during their recent national Science Fiction album tour, the video clip shows the band at their very best: live on stage.
Frontman Lewis Stephenson says, “Yes Man came together early in the album process. I had just bought a Jupiter 8 synth and it was the very first song I wrote on it. It’s about simply going through the motions within a crumbling relationship.”
In September, The Belligerents shared their debut full-length statement Science Fiction. The album (which includes frenetic singles ‘Caroline’, ‘Flash’ and ‘Science Fiction’) received glowing reviews in Rolling Stone, The Australian, Herald Sun, Beat Magazine and more. It clinched the spot as triple j feature album on the week of its release, which aptly coincided with Bigsound: a week dedicated to showcasing burgeoning Australian music.
The band recently wrapped up their month-long Science Fiction album tour where they visited Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, the Sunshine Coast and Wollongong, before playing three euphoric sold out shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
At the tail end of 2017, The Belligerents will appear at Grow Your Own Festival and play a special new year’s eve set at Beyond The Valley. In early 2018, the band will perform at Melbourne’s Festival Hall and Sydney’s Horden Pavilion alongside The Kooks, who are touring Australia with their ten year anniversary show.
