Album Review Contributed by Lauren Carney
FOREVER STILL are a completely in your face heavy rock band from Denmark delivering breath-taking shows around the world. The bands wide array of brooding beats, incredible electronic textures and powerful guitar riffs all help to complement that powerhouse Maja has to offer on vocals. Ranging from full screams, too the sweet tones of a lullaby. Forever still, are a band I hadn’t heard of until a few days ago before bring you this review as they say better late than never I found Maja’s vocals to be a breath of fresh air and something I need more off in my life. Tide down was just the thing I was looking for.
The album opens up with – Scars. Pulsing heavy guitar rhythms, metal screams mixed with soaring vocals brings this track to everything you want to here and expect for a band like this to open with.
Once upon a Nightmare: Dark and lyrical masterpiece one of my favorites. On this album the music is incredibly powerful, vocals draw you in, which only makes this more of an incredible track it’s hard to point out the best parts in this one as I found everything about this one to be on point.
Miss Madness: Soft charming vocals sang by Maja that sets the tone for a soothing piece of shear powerful emotion with an elegant piece of instruments that flow together beautifully.
Awake The Fire: A fast, rhythmic piece where you find yourself headbanging to. With its catchy beat and easy to sing along lyrics is the perfect track to follow Miss Madness, as this album almost reaches the half way point I find myself enjoying this album more and more.
Breathe In will find it’s listeners wanting to headbang and mosh in the pit. Those raw powerful screams that come from Maja are a reminder to us that she has more than, what it takes to take Forever Still to great places.
As we come to the half way point now of this album the next song is called Save Me a much slower number then the last two tracks on this album there’s a blend of both strength and pain in the lyrics that leads to honest and also powerful meaning. A just as an emotional music video to matches this track can be found on youtube.
Your Light: The guitar work at the very start is packing amazing riffs that almost makes it impossible to sit still long enough to write this with a mixture of raw power vocals and that softer tone we have heard so much of and grown to love.
Alone: Very similar to Save Me but has a slightly faster tempo while still keeping that powerful raw sound that makes Forever Still who they are.
Break The Glass: Mikkel’s bass work sounds amazing in this, giving this track a fresh feel for the album as both guitar and drums flow beautifully helping make Maja’s vocal shine for an upbeat heavier faster track.
We have reached the last song on this album it sure didn’t fall short of awesome keeping you entertained as they mixed it up throwing in different styles threw out the entire album.
Tied Down: What a track to finish on. Packed full of passion and power that makes you feel every bit of emotion the song wants you to feel. Maja’s vocals are almost mesmerizing drawing you deeply in until the song comes to a final end.
