Andrew McMahon is heading to our shores at the end of August, and is preparing for the physical release of his awesome album “Into the Wilderness”

Casper spoke with Andrew about almost everything, Tour and Album. Listen today.

ndrew McMahon, who’d been the guiding voice and songwriter of Something Corporate and Jack’s Mannequin, goes the solo route as Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness.

As a cancer survivor, McMahon has an unusually deep connection to the vagaries of life, while the birth of his daughter brought him happiness and inspired the grand radio pop of “Cecilia and the Satellite” with its Bastille-like breakout of “ohs” and “whoas.” “All Our Lives,” “Black and White Movies,” and “Driving Through a Dream” capture the otherworldly glitz and glamour of modern pop music. The somber piano-based “See Her on the Weekend” speaks to loved ones missed.

Andrew McMahon has been through a lot in his 32 years on earth: like all of us, he has lived joy, pain, accident, and illness; unlike most he’s also dealt with the vagaries of the music business, the strains of tour; he has battled cancer and witnessed the birth of his first child. Life has changed and so has Andrew. If, as McMahon says, “music is a mirror to the adventure of living,” each new chapter of life deserves its own title. As such, his music will go forward under the name Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness. As AMITW, he has shared his new single, “Cecilia and the Satellite.” The track is from his forthcoming self-titled album, Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness to be released this fall, marking his debut on Vanguard Records.

ANDREW MCMAHONneeds no introduction fronting the seminal rock band SOMETHING CORPORATE and JACK’S MANNIQUIN, his introspective lyrics and dazzling voice has amassed a reverent and dedicated fan base across the world.

The journey wasn’t an easy one, despite the outward signs of success, beating cancer, selling out shows the world over, getting married, an Emmy nomination – McMahon says the road to recovery was a “rollercoaster ride that took the better part of a decade, I had to learn to acclimate to the world post illness” which resulted in a break from all musical endeavours.

Fast-forward to 2013, ANDREW MCMAHON metaphorically reset, ditching the moniker ‘JACK’S MANNEQUIN and creating music as ANDREW MCMAHON IN THE WILDERNESS marking the start of a new musical chapter.

Holed up in the Californian mountains with a renewed passion for signwriting ANDREW MCMAHON honed his creativity and immersed himself in the music away from civilisation. The resulting product is ANDREW MCMAHON IN THE WILDERNESS debut self-titled album a deeply personal account of past, the present and future.

For the first time in Australia with his full band ANDREW MCMAHON IN THE WILDERNESS will be performing tracks from his dazzling solo material along with classic hits from SOMETHING CORPORATE and JACK’S MANNEQUIN.
