DIABLO BLVD is a fully committed and successful metal band on the top of their game, formed in 2005 with all members hailing from the city of Antwerp, Belgium. The band is named after a CORROSION OF CONFORMITY song and lead by notorious stand-up comedian and singer Alex Agnew. With current and ex-members of bands like A BRAND, BORN FROM PAIN and MEURIS, this eclectic five-piece quickly started to turn heads and playing shows to appreciative crowds all over Belgium and the Netherlands.
Building on groovy riffs, catchy choruses, and a charismatic stage presence, DIABLO BLVD offers what made their heroes great within a wide range of influences from the heavy genre (like DANZIG, VOLBEAT, THE CULT, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and TYPE O NEGATIVE), classic rock and even blues.
DIABLO BLVD went to the legendary ICP studios with producer Ace Zec to record their 3rd full album, Follow The Deadlights in collaboration with the American duo Jay Ruston (mix) and Paul Logus (mastering) who have previously been behind the sound of ANTHRAX, STONE SOUR, MEATLOAF and STEEL PANTHER.
On Friday, May 09, 2014 during the first edition of their own metal festival ‘Diablo Fest’, they have successfully showcased their new album Follow The Deadlights in the sold-out venue Trix, Antwerp. The album, release show, and festival got raving reviews from the specialized and mainstream press. Now the time has come for DIABLO BLVD to set an international course as they will celebrate their 10th anniversary in 2015.
Alex Agnew (*1972) is a multi-awarded and famous stand-up comedian in the Benelux since 2010 with British/Belgian roots. He already released 7 comedy shows on DVD which sold more than 150.000 copies. He’s fascinated by movies, comic heroes, rock’n’roll and metal. Alex hosts a metal show called “De Zwaarte Lijst” on national radio Studio Brussel.
In October 2013, Alex Agnew performed his last comedy show “The Legends Ends”. He has sold out 4 times the Sportpaleis venue in Antwerp, Belgium which just came in 8th place in the wold ranking for arena venues. More than 55.000 tickets were sold for his last show which was released on DVD by Sony Entertainment Belgium. For now, he says farewell to comedy and takes a sabbatical in order to focus on his music career as the front man and singer of his metal band DIABLO BLVD.
